Pedantic, you beat me to it again. I was going to make a post along vaguely similar lines. I had thought of listing a select few of Kate's numerous howlers from this morning's particularly diabolical 'interview' with the Home and Away actor called Martin (it was a gaffe a minute, perhaps literally). However, this thread seems to be a celebration of Kate's crassness, so it's probably not the right place for me to post, since I find her stupidity and ignorance appalling and embarrassing, rather than endearing or amusing. This thread smacks to me of spin - trying to turn a negative into a positive. If it is intentional, it's an act of manipulation Kate herself would be proud of, if only she had the brains to think of it. ”

It may have been started with that intention but most people reading them would find it appalling and embarrassing rather than endearing and amusing as you say.
I think it may therefore have its place.

That interview was indeed awful - well it was good as he and Dougie got on so well but Kate's part in it was dreadful.
When they were talking about a group they remembered she came out with 'I probably wasn't born then.....erm.....no offence' !!
They both looked daggers at her - how old does she think they are?

I know, anon2. The worst thing she said, though (not the dumbest but the most offensive), was when they were discussing the Irene character from H & A. Dougie laughingly said, 'She's a bit rough,' and Kate said, in all seriousness, 'Yes, she looks a bit council.' No kidding, she actually said that. I can't believe nobody told her. She clearly didn't even realize she had said anything offensive. Truly, ignorance is bliss.

Absolutely f*cking amazing.

You hang on her every word. You watch her every move. You watch her every expression. You say you don't like her, but still watch the show every day without fail. You're all utterly obsessed with her and if she ever left our screens, you lot wouldn't know what to do with yourselves.

It really is quite simple, if you don't like her don't watch the show.

I assure you I don't watch the show because I am obsessed with Kate, I still think she's an appalling presenter.

If you must know, I hardly watched any of them after the first week until it got so hot a few weeks ago, I wasn't sleeping well and I seem to have got in to this habit of waking really early, it was 4.18 today and by 7 I am a bit bored. RI:SE is the most mindlessly entertaining thing on at that time.
That's it really.

OK fair enough.

But 90% of the people on this forum who say they don't like Kate, still watch RI:SE every day. In my opinion that is a huge compliment to Kate, because it takes a unique presenter to be able to get people who like you to watch, but also to get people who don't like you to watch. Only a few presenters in this country have this ability and Davina is also one of them. Executive producers don't care why you watch, as long as you're watching.

Do I like Kate? Read the first post. Also if you read the first post, this thread is about her quotes and comments relating to them, not about whether you like her or not, I think "Kates rise round up" is already engaged in that argument, we don't need two threads that are identical. So please people, dont engage in this argument any further

Hmmmm.... I admit I never watch Kate on RI:SE.... however I do have a bit of an issue with this thread..... it's in the Title.....!!!!

From the examples I have read.... the adjective "Classic" is sadly misused.....

Classic - being a typical example of something; of lasting interest because of excellence; attractive because of simplicity of form.

I think we can safely leave the 'classic' description to the quips, comments, etc. of Jon and Alex with the occasional Jadeism....

Otherwise the Title of.... "Kate Clueless Quotes" seems apt enough.....

(Sorry RG... ...)
”

Well Classic got in there mainly because it makes the phrase roll off the tongue alittle better

Agree or disagree if you wish, no doubt you will *shrug*

Yeah, certainly the more netagive side to her ignorance and lack of thought. Was kinda on a level with the "prammy" slurs thrown at Sissy in here a while back

I don't watch the show as I'm not up before 11 in the morning! However, I can see why people could watch it - it's a train wreck mentality. You don't want to see a train wreck but people will tune in to see how bad it is. In this case, Kate is so bad people will tune in to see how bad.

From the BBC weekly quiz at:

"I’ve always said it." Who has vowed to watch their words from now on?

A: Former Big Brother winner Kate Lawler, who said on live TV that Hitler was a great leader to rank alongside Margaret Thatcher

Another one I missed, heh

Yeah, think you hit the nail on the head. That's also why I love the awful ones who think they are good on Pop Idol too

That was a spoof answer in a multiple choice question. Kate wouldn't have a clue who Hitler was

KATE ON TV: HITLER WAS GREAT

TV viewers were shocked yesterday morning when Channel 4's RI:SE show host Kate Lawler described Adolf Hitler as a "great leader".

Kate was discussing a new study which claims first-born children are the most successful...... She said.... "But Margaret Thatcher, Adolf Hitler and Napoleon were all middle children and all great leaders of their time."

Co-host Dougie Anderson moved the discussion swiftly on. .......

Lawler - a Big Brother winner - was forced to issue a grovelling apology.

Depends on the use of great . I think they were all comparable leaders. Great at causing fear hate and poverty to the people of the country they lead. Great at starting wars and causing countless deaths for their own political ends.

I still quite like Kate.It does seem that to even say the actual word Hitler causes such emotions both within and without.I'm sure Kate didn't mean Hitler was "great" as such. But I think its sad that society hangs on media people's every word ready to knock them down.
Incidentally each of the 3 leaders Kate referred to were all of the same year sign[each year sign comes around every 12 years]
The sign is Ox. Saddam is also OX year.
Before I,myself am branded as a vile,aweful,label-sticking devil, let me also inform you that Princess Diana, too, was Ox year. And my lovely sister Jane too.So thats balanced that one.

Kate youre ok.Monkey Queen.

There was a great one this morning. Kate asked the guest why she had called her album QUIX-OTE. The answer - it's about Don Quixote (key-o-tay). Iain was in stiches.

“KATE LAWLER's RI:SE presenting odyssey continues. On the one hand she's mastered ad breaks and now chirps "Back in two" with impressive fluency.

And on the other we've got her recent performance when rapper ICE T was guesting. Discussions turned to legendary producer BIGGIE SMALLS, who was shot dead six years ago.

"Is he really dead?" asked Kate.

To which Ice replied: "Yes".

"I don't think he is," said Kate.

Bravely, Ice resisted the temptation to say: "Tell you what, Kate, you're from Beckenham, and I'm from South Central LA: who do you think's going to know more about this?"

And to be fair, compared to RI:SE, Biggie's in the peak of health.
