I can't agree with you here.

- AppStore (hundreds of free apps so can't be accused of twisted economics)
- Exchange support
- Scientific calculator
- 802.1x
- ppt, pages, keynote viewing support
- Contact search
- tons of other small things (mass move/delete, youtube plugin, multi calendars, bonjour, mobileme)

It does seem like a bit of a swizz to pay for something that essentially lets you buy applications. it's like paying an entrance fee to go into a shop.

Of all the free stuff, I'm a big fan of the last.fm application. If you are a member you can stream your own playlists etc.

I have also downloaded the remote app, which seems quite good and paid for the music maker app. which is good but may have a limited life span, unless they update it with more instruments etc.

I got the January upgrade and am not too sure if it's worth forking out another £5.99, I've heard so many bad reports about this upgrade that I, reluctant to get it. What is in this latest upgrade other than what was in the January one? Is it only access to games?

Mind you with the app upgrade you only buy the licence.
If you then want to sell the ipod touch, you can't really say that it has the latest upgrade because as soon as the new owner syncs it with their itunes then the upgrade is lost.

Luckily with the first firmware it came already installed on my ipod.

So with all the new upgrades you never actually "own" the upgrade you just rent it. This means that if you ever want to sell your ipod touch then the buyer will have to "buy" all the upgrades all over again.................can see the marketing sense from Apples point of view but it is a bit of a cheat IMO

Thanks for that. I think I'll give it a miss.
