Well got my 3G!! Went to my local O2 store at 6am and stood in-line with about 15 others, the queue grew to about 50 by 8AM, and I am one of the lucky few it seems, who got my hands on a white 16-GIG.

O...M....G, I didn't think I could love a phone anymore than my 1st Gen, but this bad-boy is fantastic!!!

The internet flies on it, I used 3G on my old Nokia N95 but this seems about 10 times faster, due to the power of the Safari browser no doubt.

I've been walking around the streets with the GPS on too hehe, its so handy but i find it does run the battery down more.

Overall this is the best mobile handset on the market, and now its so affordable, anyone who can afford one will pretty much own one.

Top marks Apple, as usual you've impressed me beyond my wildest dreams!

For others than now have one in their lucky little hands, how are you finding the experience?

The upgrade process from a 2G iPhone is very cool. All my texts, voicemails, home screen icons, etc all got saved and carried over.

The 3G one definately has a yellower tinge to it over the old iPhone. I prefer the cooler look rather than the warmer one but I'll get used to it.

Mine is way too "warm". Going to have to get it replaced .

The 3G phone is my first iPhone. I dismissed the previous phone as style over substance really, but I guess I have to eat my words now as I'm massively impressed with it. Internet browsing is amazing, email access superb, brilliant apps like MySpace, Maps & YouTube, the iPod functions etc etc. Maybe the poor quality camera will disappoint me (haven't actually tried it yet) but at the moment I'm still mega impressed. Also, the user interface blows every other phone out of the water, this thing is in a different league.

they're definitely using a more recent version of webkit because safari flies.

GPS + push + tinternet = battery destroyer

This is also my first try with an iPhone and I love it, never been so impressed with a phone. Not got my number transferred over yet so it won't be in day to day use for a few more days, but I have no doubt it will change the way I use a mobile.

Something really interesting I picked up on from the MacRumors forum and have tested.

The 3G iPhone ships with a software version 5A345, that was the same software version as the last beta of the version 2.0.

The original 2G iPhone upgrade is version 5A347.

Now I did a restore of my 3G iPhone just now and lo and behold the new software version is 5A347 and the yellow tinge seems to be sooo much less noticable (in my opinion)!

Also the back of the phone is far from scratch resistant which is annoying seeing as in 8 months using a 2G iPhone I didn't get a scratch on it!

Well its my first iphone and i absolutely adore it!

A few things though - can't seem to get the GPS going to find my current position in Maps. Any hints? And when surfing through 3G and not wifi, there seem to be a few connection errors being thrown up by O2.

Apart from that love it but keep killing the battery as I play with it too much....

I think enabling 3G is a real battery killer. Disable and use WiFi when at home!

Which is of course why Steve Jobs didn't want to include 3G in the original iPhone, but seeing as everyone shouted at Apple for not doing so they've bowed to pressure and released one.

He said up front at 2G launch time that 3G chips kill batteries.

Yeah I agree with him now haha

My other phones also kill batterys when their 3G is enabled (and even not used).

It's no big deal for me as Im near loads of WiFi Hotspots.

BTW: I'm Keeping 5A345 f/w it may have some security bugs

I've actually found the 3g on the iPhone to be quite slow - many others have noticed this, too. Many of the speed tests avaialable online show the 3g to be quite slow on the device.

Surely 5A347 would have less bugs than 5A345 as it's a later build (and the one also being sent to 2G iPhones)

Yes, 5A345 maybe easier to jailbreak.

I gave that a try last night an it's still yellow .

Been on the phone with CPW all morning for them to eventually tell me they can't do anything, I should to to my local store. Which I did, of course they were out of stock so he tried to order a replacement for me but CPW have no stock at all of the 16GB.

Means I'm gonna have to be ringing them every day to see if they can send me a new one.

Plus, mine's still not activated.

i read somewhere that 3G actually uses less battery power than EDGE/GPRS when standing by. the reverse being true when downloading or talking, of course.

has anyone had there old number ported over to the new sim yet??
I was on O2 with CPW before but not with an Iphone, when I got the Iphone I was told I would get a new sim as I am now with 02..They did a port request in the shop and I was told it would be 24 hours before I would work..
When I put the new sim on the Iphone to register it with Itunes the sim was not activated so I used my old CPW 02 sim and all went well..Now I have my old sim in my old phone and my new sim in the Iphone both working but the Iphone is the new sim number..I just want it to port over so I can use the Iphone

whoever it is wanting a blue-white screen like v1 is going to be very disappointed...as far as I can tell, they've all got much warmer colour temp than v1. It's not bothering me in the slightest though.

You do get used to it, especially after a restore to the v7 firmware (rather than the shipped v5)

Snap!!

Although, I've also had the 'well now you've got your iPhone, you don't need me anymore, snivel'

I cannot put this down for more than a couple of minutes - I"m totally thrilled to bits with it!

So far, I've got more apps than I ever thought I'd bother with - but they're sooo addictive, hey?

Band is the one that my OH loves - the kids are going bonkers for Supermonkey ball - I'm hooked on Bejewelled and Platinum Solitaire! I can't believe the quality of the graphics - it's like a whole new world has been opened up lol!

I'm also well-chuffed that I've managed to get my hotmail emails pushed onto my iphone by forwarding them to my ymail account - geddin!!!!!!!!!!

All I've got to sort out now is how to access a calendar. I use Yahoo Calendar but it doesn't look like that will sync, only Outlook 2003. Would I have to pay for this or is there anyway you can download it free?
