Strange fault

I'm a bit stumped, so ifanyone can shed any light on my problem, that would be amazing.

for the last week or so, my landline only seem to work with non-powered phones, ie. ones that don't have to be plugged into AC. ADSL works fine. and I have tried putting a booster on the phone signal, but to no avail.

The phone readout seems to think it is connected, but there is no dial tone. I have 2 different powered phones (3 if you count the one that runs on batteries), and 2 unpowerd phones. I don't run them all at the same time, but I have tested the phenomenon with more than a sample of 1.

Many thanks in advance.

I have just had the same fault for the past week and a half. It took 3 engineer visits and multiple phone calls to have the problem sorted.

What solved the problem in the end was changing the 'line card' in the exchange even though this did not show any faults in the tests that they normally undertake. Once this was done (it took a lot of persuasion) both powered phones came to life and now work like they always did.

I hope you have success in getting BT/Openreach to fix your fault.

Thanks for ther lead. I will try my luck (and patience) with BT.
