Thomson DT16300 -16 manual tuning

Help Please, I am in Stoke on Trent on the Fenton repeater but have trouble receiving various channels. The box in auto scan assigns frequencies which are not the best available to me at the moment channel 5 is on 68 but better signals are in the 20's and 30's. If I do a manual scan from the set up/help/red button page I can find better frequencies .How, if possible do I store the new frequency as the box when I exit and then go back in reverts back to the old setting. In auto scan I get 12 frequencies and 105 programmes.

Ideally you need an attenuator - these are readily available. Another trick is to remove the aerial plug during the channel scan - this can be trial and error and may take several attempts to perfect.

Thanks for that .I take it there is no way to self select then.In that case what is the point of being able to select different frequencies then for the 2 tuners with the coloured remote buttons ?

Hi Bezzar
There is no manual tuning built into the Thompson. The frequency page is for INFORMATION only. You can manually tune to different frequencies to test you have enough signal strength for faulty finding purposes.

You may find your problem a mixed blessing though.
If you only picked up the six frequencies (mux's) from Fenton then you would have a problem picking up all the channels see:

Normally you would attenuate the distant TX so you only pickup your local one. But as Fenton does not work to well with the Thompson at present you have the option of just picking up the distant TX. From my location I can pickup Fenton or winter hill. Winter hill is ok with the Thompson.

Sutton main is also OK. Depending which way you’re aerial is pointing NNW (winter Hill) SSE (Sutton Coldfield) and polarisation (should be vertical for Fenton Horizontal for Sutton or Winter Hill.

To do this though you will need to juggle the aerial in and out to bypass the unwanted frequencies.
