ps3 blu ray playback advice
Son in law's just rented 2 blu ray discs to watch on his ps3 and can't get them to play, he rang me for advice and after searching web for answers still couldn't get it to play. turned off the 1080p setting in bd settings and did a reset ( held down power till 2nd bleep). Still no playback . Then read on web that if ps3 is set on 576p instead of 720 or 1080 it won't play, rang him back to check and he confirmed it was on 576p told him to change it to 1080i, but he said it wouldn't let him.
Not owning a ps3 myself and trying to tell him this over the phone without playing around with it myself I'm now at a loss anyone get an answer ???? |

He may have to select every resolution the TV is capable of receiving in the PS3 menu and the TV and PS3 can get together and pick a suitable resolution.
It is a HDMI connection? |

The PS3 will playback the discs in any resolution you want .
But if its set to a higher resolution than the tv can display you wont see anything- but if the PS3 is connected by HDMI it should be able to tell what the max resolution is by itself during setup The other scenario is that as rental discs they may be scratched or damaged |
