Hi all,

Not sure whether this should be in here on in PC's??

Just got a cheap AOC 32" LCD for a bedroom which i have connected to a WMC PC. With the TV before I went from the digital port on the back of the PC into the HDMI slot on the tv and then connected the sound via 2 audio leads into the corresponding inputs under the hdmi connection on the tv and everything was fine. However with this AOC there isn't any dedicated audio input for the HDMI - so subsequently I cannot get any sound.

For the moment I have reverted back to VGA and plug the sound in the minijack next to the VGA input - this works fine but ideally i would like to have digital input via the HDMI - am I missing something??

Cheers

Do you not have to enable sound output via HDMI on the PC? HDMI can certainly carry sound without any additional cabling so I think it depends on the output options available on the graphics card on the outputting PC.

Don't use this setup myself (I use VGA) but the above rings a bell ..... probably from a previous post on here.

The AOC assumes the HDMI connection will be carrying both video & audio so there is not a separate audio input associated. Therefore unless your Media PC can provide the the digital audio via HDMI your stuck with using VGA.

Stick to VGA, it will give you the best possible picture from your PC - I tried loads of different TV's and on EVERY one the picture was far inferior on HDMI as it scales the picture regardless of the input signal. Via VGA it should 'Plug and Play' and display without scaling - giving a much better picture.

Thanks loads for all your prompt replies. I use a seperate usb driven M-Audio fastrack sound card as I use the machine for music recording as well.

The VGA works perfectly so I'll stick to that then.

Thanks again
