If you clearly looked at those leotard shots you can see the effort that was put in to the training!!
I started the bleep test at level 5 and finished at level 12.
For 8 weeks the routine was as follows:
Mon - Fri - Work (for those of us who had jobs) 7am- 3pm, finish work, go to rehearsals for 4 hours with dance partner, finish rehearsals at 8 then go to the gym for an hour, get home about 10:30pm as it was an hour drive to rehearsals, then sleep!! Repeat for 4 days solid!
Friday, travel to the studios and perform a Bleep Test, meet with Dr Cath and assess weight loss and fitness for the week
Wardrobe Challenge - Aarrrgh, not the Gold Top!
2 hours rehearsals on the Friday for the dance floor decider on the Saturday!
Saturday: Arrive at the studios and get into costume, have several interviews and also have a dress rehearsal. Get as much rehearsal time during the day as possible, going over and over your routine!
Perform your dance in front of Matthew Cutler and Karen Hardy (as if that wasn't daunting enough)
Sunday: Arrive at the studios to learn the dance for the following week! 2 hour workshop then off to the fitness challenge for the week.
Go home around 5pm on Sunday.
Monday: Meet up with dance partner who has had roughly around 12 hours to come up with a routine for that week
Repeat the above every week for 8 weeks, as well as sticking to your diet! No cheating!!!
If any of you can honestly say you can commit to that for 8 weeks then I applaud you.
As for somebody who has never danced before, let alone perform it on TV and in front of Matthew Cutler and Karen Hardy, I don't think I did too badly.
One thing for me, I was always honest, polite and on time. I was extremely grateful for being given the opportunity and never caused a fuss!
There were times when I was criticised by Karen and Matt but I always took their comments on board and always said thank you (not many people did) as they are the best at what they do and their opinion is the most important!
If you had listened in the first few weeks you would have known my background and realised that sports people always suffer with longstanding injuries!!! Yes, I admit, I had 3 injuries but they were hardly threatening. My back injury was probably the worst! Did you not hear everyone else’s moaning – and when did I moan once about my injuries!!! Not once!!!!
I think the editing didn’t help and it's clear that you think Laura should've won; Laura was a fantastic person to be with and to compete against! In my opinion the right 2 were in the final! We worked so hard to get to the final and maybe In your opinion I wasn't the best dancer there but according to 90% of the 'professionals' I was!!!
I did it on the night and that's what matters! I am so proud of my fantastic achievement!!!!
As for my dance partner, you don't understand how much work she put in. She's the reason I won, she was unbelievable!
I know my opinion is obviously biased but I think at the end of the day I was myself throughout and what I achieved was amazing both physically and dance wise.
I don’t think I had a big ego or was arrogant. I think I was gracious in both winning and defeat and the pure emotion that was shown when I won was clearly a sign that I was myself!
I was confident in the final because I knew the routine and enjoyed it so much that I couldn't forget it if I tried. Karen Hardy wanted me to look as though I was enjoying myself and that's what I did.
I don't want to be on here bitching but some of these comments are quite amusing. As always, I thank you all for taking the time to talk about me, it's very flattering and whether it's good or bad, thank you
I'm very proud at what I achieved and my total weight loss was 2 and a half stone in 8 weeks. That's how hard I worked, if any of you would like to try and lose that amount of weight in weeks, please be my guest!
Anyway, thank you for watching Diet on the Dancefloor, sorry if you thought the winner was unjustified but I was there and I know how hard I worked

Hi Mark
Congratulations on winning Diet on the Dancefloor!
I think you did a fabulous job not only learning the dances but losing the amount of weight you did. While i do agree with a few of the other posters that Laura was maybe the better dancer, the point of the show was to lose weight and you certainly lost the most.
I have a lot of respect for you for taking part, cos I know that even though i've danced for years I wouldn't have the guts to dance in front of Matthew Cutler and Karen Hardy so well done!!

x

) I didn't realise everyone was doing their normal day job as well as training, exercising and dancing. I think it was a fantastic achievement in that case and it's a shame the editing didn't show all that and wasn't very good. Read some of the comments on here about the camera work once Strictly starts - it's dreadful!!!
