I've had this machine now for just over a year and it's just brilliant, a few niggling things (as with most things) that I'll bring up in other posts, but the main issue here is that it keeps failing to record Loose Women (weekdays 12:30pm). I've had it on series link and all, but it'll record Monday and then not record Tuesday, might record Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I've even found the machine in standby when it was supposed to be recording, turned it on and it'll suddenly leap into action and start the recording half way through this only happens with Loose Women, all other recordings are fine with a few minor exceptions. I even found it once in record mode late into the evening when no timer recordings were scheduled to find it had recorded Loose Women that day, but had then continued to record for 7 hours. What can be causing this?

Note* It'll record the repeat showing at 2:00am perfectly.

Hi- can anyone help. I have just bought a Sony RDR-HXD870 dvd hard disc recorder and can not get the EPG to show. I have set it to 03 on the host channel but it still does not work.

I have it connected to a Sony KDL-32D3000 TV by HDMI and nothing else.

Everything else works but need the EPG for ease of recording.

Please help.

First make sure that your external aerial is connected to the DIGITAL AERIAL INPUT,if you want the analogue channels as well connect another RF cable from DIGITAL AERIAL OUTPUT,to ANALOGUE AERIAL INPUT.

Do you want to connect another receiver e.g Sky box,if so connect this to the Recorder using a SCART cable to the scart socket named LINE 1

Make sure that the IR transmitter is plugged in the back of the recorder and place the other end on the Sky box(as example)

If you want to use the Guideplus epg then, follow the quick start instructions.
If you are using ITV,as your host channel, make sure it is set to ON,in the channel editor list, and make sure that the ITV is set as channel number 03,and NOT as 003.
If you are using Eurosport as your host channel, make sure that it is set to ON,in the channel editor list and the channel number is set as 410 .
Remember that the external receiver has to be left ON,and the Sony Recorder left in STANDBY,for at least 24 hours.

Hi

Sorry to hijack the thread but I was about to buy a Sony 1095 but saw the dimensions of it - as being 203MM high.

Is that right? That seems way too big, Surely it cant be over 20cm in height?

Thanks

The issue we are having with the sony HXD870 is that the series timer seems to miss some recording in particular coronation street on mondays at 7.30. We also have another sony dvd recorder and its succesfully recording this so assume the issue is with the machine and notthe broadcast
we have the updated sofware installed
the machine seems to switch on at 2pm each day but only for a few minutes so not sure if thats the issue ?

Updated to version 1.65?
As that's the latest firmware, correcting timer recordings.
You could try seting a manual timer recording instead.
Or a more drastic step is to do a re-installation(it will delete all your timer recordings),and then try setting series link, and hopefully see if that helps.

Latest firmware for that model is 1.69, this fixes most of the timer problems.

Does anyone know how/where to get firmware updates for the non-Freeview Sony boxes, like the HX 910 (not HXD 910). The Sony website has nothing that I can see..

Is the 1.69 firmware available on the Sony website,as the links in the Support section lead to the 1.65 version firmware for the 870?

The Sony website i have access to but not the general public lists it as being as folows:

1.65 service Bulletin 07HV028R1
1.66 service Bulletin 08HV006
1.69 service Bulletin 07HV017R2

These bulletins have been placed here for you to read, firmware can be found there too.
Do not use the Firmware sr07P208 at the site as its for the Asia Pacific region of the model.
