The wifes parents want two things....

She wants a new phone , and a simple basic phone on a 12 month contract , free phone with a few hundred mins and texts whilst he wants a bigger and better Tvto replace an ageing 28 inch Crt

After looking around I can see ebuyer offering either

Nokia 2630 or Nokia 3109 for £30 per month , 12 month contract on Combi 30 with T Mobile - 300 mins , 200 texts with a free 32 inch Vistron Lcd thrown in , this is worth almost £300

Doing the sums

12 x £30 = £360

Then if I deduct the value of the Tv , almost £300 it means she will be paying the equivalent of £60 or only £5 per month for 300 mins , 200 texts

And the phones gotta be worth £30 ish

Where is the catch ?

dunno i got a core 360 on one of these deals.

i cant remember exact specifics, exept it was a tarrif i wanted, a phone i wanted and a 360 - that i wanted. no redemption bollock either - everything was great.

something like 12 month contract, samsung D900 £40 a month on voda and a free 360 that arrived as promised within the 28 days.

after the 12 months was up i cancelled no problem, ive ended up selling the core to my mate for £50 about 9 months ago and givin the phone to my mate who still uses it about 6 months ago. everyones a winner.

out of the two handsets, take the nokia 3109. The vistron 32 inch lcd tv is not bad - my nan bought something similar about 4 months ago and has had no problems. Vistron tv link (may not be the right one) http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131916

review of the nokia 3109 http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/n...09-classic.htm

review of the nokia 2630 http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/nokia-2630.htm

If the contract offer is coming from the likes of CPW, the networks pay hundreds per contract connection as they have the potential to make lots more money from users going over their allotted minutes/texts and buying ringtones etc - the company offering you the contract are just trying to entice you into buying a contract with them so will 'share the wealth' as it were. As the poster in post 2 has said - everyone is a winner

Sorry Db

I asked.........

Because you said in post 2 ......

I like the idea , she gets a simple phone and texts with mins and he gets a £300 , 32 inch Tv for the £30 on a 12 month contract

And no messing around with redemptions to , my wifes on a cheap contract (after redemption ) 600 mins , 500 texts , unlimted 02 to 02 calls pn a 12 month contract but she pays £40 a month and then claims back 3 x £100 ish redemptions , so it works out at £15 ish a month , thankfully the first redemption as just been paid out by DAP ( who I recently found out were now owned by P4U)

And hopefully the Tv will turn up after the 28 days period

I was hoping someone would say " Don't do it because " its to good a deal

I can see the good parts of the offer I guess Iwas looking for the catch , as usually the cost of free something is added elsewhere like giving real poor mins or texts or lengthy contracts

'Don't do it because.......' I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't. It looks like a good deal from a reputable company (I've used ebuyer for computing and tv bits for years) which covers everything your in laws are looking for.
