Yes

Even to the point where its getting embarrasing to watch. Hopfully, it won't carry on for too long.

Corrie just seems to be running out of good stories at the moment.

The Peter farce is getting REALLY tired, the Martin / Katy story just gets on my nerves and the less said about Sally the better.

But yes, the Roy / Haley / Tracy love triangle beats the lot.

I really can't believe Corrie went ahead with the Roy-Tracy date rape thing. It's just sick.
Another stupid story with Todd and Nick is gonna start soon, but that's not half as bad as the rape-pregnancy story

Completely agree with you there, Carene. But what do you make of Terry Duckworth's return to the Street, hooking up with Tracyluv and the pair becoming the Bonnie & Clyde of Weatherfield It sounds daft but it could be fun

Anyone read this: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds11619.html

What are they thinking?!

Depending on how its done, it could be quite a humorous storyline, or it could just make Corrie look completely stupid. (Actually, the Tracy and Roy storyline has already done that).

The Corrie writers must be getting desperate.
What with the Tracy-Roy Story, the gay story, Jack and Vera taking drugs, and not forgetting dragging back Nick, Terry, Bet, Liz and Jim, i really think they are aiming for rock bottom.

I think the writers are upset that Roy Hattersley is disgusted and doesn't watch it anymore.

Well I would agree with you all but I have to say that David Nielson who plays Roy is so excellent in the role and that the Tracey character is so hateful that it has made good TV. An you say that Corrie is desperate but the ratings are very good so it seems to be working. At least the show is not boring! Also althought he stories are over the top - they do often manage to handle them well cos the writing and acting is good.

I hate the Sally and Kevin and Rose business. Awful - and unconvincing and badly acted!

To be honest i can't see why you think this is sick. Date rape happens in the uk (well in fact all over the world but i i do think they could have chose differnt characters to portry the story.
But then again i suppose that it could happen to anyone

Yes, i know date rape is common, but to portray it in a soap (Corrie) with a character that is going to do it to win a 1 penny bet, is just awful.
I would have maybe expected this from EE or Brookie, but not Corrie.
And no, i'm not living in the stone ages or nothing, but I don't like the way it has been staged, that's all.
Just my opinion

Just how common is it for a date rape drug to be used on a guy by a girl?

Doubt that a girl needs to use a drug on a guy - he's prob done most of the job himself with bevvy. Not the case in this near teetotaler scenario, which would be one of the exceptions, along with perhaps some zealous female doping a gay lad.

Generally tho I agree that the storylines have been getting uniformally OTT in the past year or so. The fact that so many run concurrently is noteworthy in itself. One sensational plot like this at a time would probably be enough. The critical and ratings success of the Hillman storyline is the culprit I'm afraid.

The scriptwriters meetings must be like top trumps these days. I sense a "not only but also" aspect to most of the storylines - to crank it up another notch.

Cheers G

Am I very naive when I say that I did not think that Tracey actually could make Roy do the deed. Under that drug could a man like Roy actually succeed in making a woman pregnant? And in any case even if he could, there is no way that Tracey actually let him!

On top of what I said earlier there's a very obvious "performance" aspect involved in the male act of coitus which makes female on male date rape with drugs OR alcohol less likely.

I thought that the Las Vegas episode, which was released on video about 7 or 8 years ago, was utter shite.

I've got a really OTT idea for storyline in Corrie.
How about Gail marrys someone who survives?
(Let's face it, Martin's history when Katey's Dad finds out!!)

Roy didn`t get Tracy pregnant....Steve McDonald did. I`d hate to be in Tracys shoes when Karen finds out.

Of course Roy could have made Tracy pregnant. The effect of date rape drugs is not the same as 5 pints of beer. It is also entirely possible for a man to be "raped" against his will. The male anatomy will operate whether under duress or not. Again when unconscious, like sleeping, the hydraulics would still work. Ask any teenage boy who wakes up in a damp bed. Sorry to be gross. It is a common fallacy (phallacy fnarr fnarr) that men can just turn it off at will. It really is true that we do not have access to and on switch, and that it's always in standby mode anyway.

It is also a misconception (hehe) that you cannot get pregnant the first time/ standing up/ yadda yadda yadda.
