Orange Contract Upgrades
Hi,
I've just entered the last 3 months of my 18 month orange contract and should be recieving a callback from orange later tonight to discuss upgrade options. The tariff I'm on at the moment is Web Plan 100mins + 500 texts for which I am paying £30 (inc orange care insurance). My average spend on my contract for the past 12 months has been just under £40 p/month I've been told that I am in Band 3 on orange's upgrade list so I can't get the Samsung Soul etc. What should be looking to get in this upgrade? and does anyone know the best new handset for Band 3 customers? Thanks nojcarter |

tell them you want your pack code as you can get the phone you want on another net work they will more than likely give you a better deal and give you the phone
it is worth a try |

Can I move to a different provider without paying the final three months or will I still have to pay up to the end of my contract?
Thanks for you help |

TTTV is correct, in an attempt to 'sweeten' the deal they offer to chuck the remainder of your existing contract to the end of your new one. e.g. if you have 3 months left to run on a 18 month contract your new deal will be 21 months.
I'm not sure if it is rounded up to the whole month either. When I first enquired I was told I was in month 15 of a 18 month contract and would have 3 months added to any upgrade, but when I checked I was only 2 days away from being into month 16. So be careful, best waiting until a whole month elapses before taking the bait. Also PAC must be used within 30 days of issue, so best waiting until you are into your final month before requesting it. That way you will avoid paying to get out of the contract. |

anyone know if orange are planning on any good offers soon? my contract is up in 2 weeks, not had a call or anythign from them yet. been looking at some sites that offer a free ps3 for a new contract similar to what i'm on at the moment, but cant do it for a renewal and keep the same number which i'd much rather do to be honest. i know recently orange offered an xbox360 but i'd much rather a ps3.

Get your PAC code, port it to a PAYG SIM card, then take out a new contract and transfer the number you ported to the new contract would be my advice.

Why doesn't he just transfer his number directly to the new contract? - Just curious if I've missed a trick here. |

Can you explain the logic in this a bit further please?

It was the renewal thing that caught my eye, so if he can't get what he wants on upgrade I'm thinking that if he does it as a brand new connection that he wont be able to keep his number, so if the number is ported to a PAYG SIM (on another network) take out the new connection and get whatever it was that he wanted, then port the number back, though I could've completely read the whole thing wrong..

Gottya... Apologies I had to read it twice more before I got the gist. Yes, I see where you're coming from.. It is to give the impression that you're taking out a new contract, when in fact you'll be re-porting your old number back to them once you've got your free gift. Genius. Will it work?

Can't see why it wouldn't work, it's just an arse about face of doing things to get what you want.. I think I have seen this sort of thing suggested on here before so thought I'd steal it and suggest it

I had 2 months left to run on my contract and they offered me 600mins + Unlimited Texts + Unlimited Data (Dolphin 35) for £25 per month plus they would throw in a free HTC Diamond. Only caveat is they throw any remaining contract time to the end of the new contract (e.g. 2 months left to run added to new 18 month contract = new contract total 20 months) |

Unlikely Orange will call you. You should call them.

Horses for courses. You gotta ask yourself do you want to save £10 per month + unlimited data (internet access) or pay standard tariff (£35 per month) and have the free gimmick?
Extra £10 per month x 18 = £180 over the course of your contract. Is the PS3 worth it? Probably is. But would you have bought a PS3 anyway? Probably not. If you can sell the PS3 for near to market value then you might actually make a bit of money. Else 12 months down the line you'll be scratching your head and wondering why you're forking out all that extra doe on a very ordinary contract. |
