Hi there, this isnt about me, but a friend,

She had/has an orange contract, Two phones, one for her and one for her month.

In October time is the end of the 18month contract.

She spends quite a bit on her bill and can sometimes be up to £200 a month, her mums doesnt go over hardly ever though.

A month or two ago, she diceded to use a payasyougo simcard on orange in another phone and just top up £30 to get unlimited texts and then was planning on either cancelling the whole contract, or getting her mums moved over to her name and payment details and moving to payasyougo.

She rang orange and told them she would like to pay the remainder of the contract up for her number and move her mums over to hers,
This was fine, they moved the name over to her mums and without even telling her how much and when payment was going to be taken, took £400ish out of her bank to pay the remainder off until october (quite a large amont i know but anyway)

the main problem she has is, they will not do anything with her current number, its one she has had for about 10 years and moved about networks, it has been given out to loads of people and the hospital/doctors for her children who have problems. Its also easy to remember, very easy indeed.

They will not give her a pac code or move it to pay as you go until the contract is over in October! even though she has payed up, you can call her on the number and it works fine and text, but they have barred outgoing calls and texts so it cannot run up a bill or anything now.

Anything she can do? Its very strange and doesnt make any sense to me.

Technically speaking if she has paid up to be released they should give her her PAC, this is why they took £400.

They bar outgoing calls because they don't want her to incur any further expenditure until the porting process is complete.

Sounds like someone somewhere has got their wires crossed.
