Iphone on PAYG

With the Iphone being released on PAYG, is it right to assume this will also be the case in other european countries, i ask because Orange supply the iphone in france

and i know that an orange sim card from france works in my locked UK orange N95, so in theory it should work the otherway round too, also in france they are not allowed to lock a phone to a particular network, so whoever you buy it from it will not have a sim lock on it

maybe this could be a way around the exclusive O2 deal in the UK if anyone is travelling to france soon
