People are strange. I once went to Barcelona with my parents and they spent some time seriously discussing whether it would be better to go and see if the Barcelona branch of Marks and Spencers was the same as the British ones, or to go and see the Sagrada Familia cathedral.

I did the same. Went to a KFC in New York to see what it was like - shame they don't do 'biscuits' in the KFCs over here because they're delish

What are the biscuits like? Nothing like ours i'd imagine. Saw a fast food place that did chicken and biscuits and may check it out when we're over next

Definitely not, I live in Morocco and sometimes get takeaway from the local McDonalds. They do something called a McArabe which is similar to a doner kebab and made from Halal meat. Yummy!

Apart from that, Moroccan chicken tagine is my favourite local dish, for anyone that doesn't know, it's like a casserole and named after the dish that it's cooked in.

Biscuits are like a savoury scone, they're to die for. American food is the best in the world IMO! I'm spending Christmas and New Year with some friends in Ohio and can't wait to sample their festive food - as a previous poster said, I'll probably come back the size of a house, that's if I'm not too heavy to get on the plane

I lived in NY for nearly 2 years and never once ate fast food there! With all the superb restaraunts and dinners there (some of the best and most reasonably priced in the World IMO) why on Earth would anyone want to eat shit like McDonalds or KFC when you're there??

Because they want to, and it's their business why they want to, not yours.

because they are dirt cheap, and you just want a quick in and out bite while you're busy sightseeing?
that was why we did.
Don't get me wrong we tried some lovely and dirt cheap local diners down around wall street and on 5th and broadway, but sometimes instead of a) picking somewhere that looked popular b) waiting for a table c) choosing, placing and waiting for your order d) waiting for the bill you just wanted somewhere quick and easy.
KFC was perfect for us

I totally agree. I can't understand why people eat in those places when they're here, let alone on holiday.

It's as bad as people going to Spain and Greece and wanting to eat a full English breakfast or a Sunday roast imo.

McDonalds in Amsterdam serve a pale green coloured sauce to put on your chips, it's not mayonaise, it's got a strange taste but goes well with the chips, unsurprisingly they call it chip sauce...

Other than that, I've had McDonalds and KFC in a number of places and on the whole it's pretty much the same.

Trust me, I didn't ignore your post, in my opinion you shouldn't even have to justify yourself against these people that bleat on about what you should be eating and doing whilst abroad. As long as you're enjoying yourself, that's the main thing.
