Hello!
I have a shiny new VoIP-enabled mobile phone, which is a marvellous thing. I'm looking for the best way to go with it in terms of VoIP.
I already have a skype account, which is set up and working fine with Fring. I haven't put any money into it for a long while, however, as I'm not completely convinced with the closed nature of the protocols, and in terms of value for money. However, it does work, and also works with iSkoot (which essentially is a UK number to dial, and use skype-out credit with to call another number, particularly a foreign one).
Now, I'd like to do this with another provider:
- Have a SIP protocol that can work with Fring (or if there's an alternative that will work OK with my w960i, I'd love to hear it), so that I can call via, for instance, a hotel's wifi when travelling.
- Have a UK access number as per iSkoot so that I can make foreign calls cheaply.
- Ideally some sort of clever set up for calling FROM abroad but out of range of wifi. I realise that this may not be realistic.
I have looked at voipcheap, which looks OK apart from the second point. Is there a solution to my problem?
All advice appreciated!
Charlie
