quality is very good on that recorder,i've bought one of those this week, but at 8 hours it's stretching the possibilities of any known dvd recorder, you are looking at lower than home recorded video tape quality.
For good results look at 2 hours,to a maximum 3 hours recording per dvd.
This recorder does use double layer discs too,so you could go to 4 hours or 6 hours on one of those and still have good quality.
8 hours is just wasting your time really in my view, and you'll see by the results,i started dvd recording and editing about 9 years ago so have a fair bit of experience in that time, certainly enough to know that 8 hours on a dvd doesn't work.
