Guide to Programming a Samsung Remote?
Found_Out

Hi Folks,

I've got a samsung LE32R74BDX LCD tv (not sure if you'll need that info, but figured it's all worth throwing in). The remote which comes with it is model: BN59-00516A.

Now, i've got a Sony Surround system (model no: DAV-SR2). Basically, all i do with the surround system is turn it on/off and change the volume and input. Can i program my samsung remote to do these functions and save me having to use the sony remote to carry out those actions? it's really annoying having to keep the sony remote to hand all the time just to make minor adjustments to the volume or whatever.

at the top of the samsung remote it has keys for DVD, CABLE, VCR and STB (as well as TV obviously).

I can't find anything online telling you how to even program a samsung remote (i don't know where the instruction manual is), and i can't find anything specific to my question.

Can anyone help at all? It'd be really useful if i could just use the samsung remote for all tv/surround functions and then the sky remote for, well, sky. lol!

i need a guide to programming the remote and a code for the surround system if poss.

thanks in advance.

thanks for that link, but i've already downloaded that doc and there's no info in it regarding programming the remote or any codes for other devices.

any search i do on google for programming a samsung remote seems to bring up results talking about sky boxes and the like. it's infuriating to say the least.

There are two version of the manual that exist one of which tells you how to programme the remote for other devices (ie STBs/DVD/VCRs) and lists the codes for different manufacturers. Have a look at manuals for similar models on the Samsung website.

The bad news is that the remote is limited to what it can control which excludes Home Theatre/Surround Systems and DVD recorders etc unless they are Samsung's own. I recall finding this out from the U.S. site after drawing a blank on the U.K one.
