Rechargeable Batteries - HELP !!

I want to replace some rechargeable AA batteries that i have.
They are Ni-cd batts and looking online, most are now Ni-mh.

Can i buy Ni-mh batteries instead of the Ni-cd and use them instead ? Does it matter ?

I see one site has stopped selling the ni-cd and tell you to use ni-mh.

Thanks.

You can certainly use them in whatever device you're putting them in.

Dunno about using your current charger though?

in most cases yes.
some very special cases like outdoor solar yard lights do better with nicad because of their higher cycle life.
but for high drain consumer electronics the nimh is superior. google battery univesity for more info.
the best these days are nimh hybrids. they basically are nimh without the problem of the past products high self discharge rate. they are also called by other names such as precharged or enloop or low self discharge. its the same stuff.
i know some people complain its not babying their batteries but the duracell 15 minute charger works great with such batteries and removes the last inconvenience of time.
