I would agree with that.

T-Mobile has some very nice data plans and some very nice 3G and HSDPA coverage to go with it.

That maybe true but in one or two areas T-Mobile only gets 2 bars out of 5 for signal.

And O2 has the worst 3G network in the UK.

Usually its best to use the coverage checks on operator websites.

Even better might be to call o2 and t-mob up and ask as sometimes thier internal systems give them a better coverage indication than the consumer sees on their websites.

I have so far never used the 02 3G service so I cant say but in my area T-Moble/Virgin of what I know has a weak singal in parts of my town and 02, Orange and Vodafone have a better signal than T-Moble/Virgin.
Im my view every network a very odd once in a while has minor problems.

true if only one person says that 02 has a great signal.

When you get 100 random people saying 02 has a great signal (and they are probably talking about signals from more than one place) and pnly 1 person singing the joys of T-mobile then I would take it that o2 does indeed have the better signal...

No, it means that nothing at all. 100 random people praising o2 pales in to insignificance when you consider tmobile have 16 million customers.

BUT, to be fair O2, Vodafone and Orange have more customers.

Id say go for O2 - they've been brilliant for me.

That may well be true - my point being just because a handful of people come on here saying one thing does not make it fact. It's hardly an accurate representation.

I had a check around my local area, and more people seemed to be with o2... so I have joined o2.
Thanks for your help everyone

You'll find their customer service people to be a bit drippy, but at least they're in the UK

Its based on physics, and how the radio bands work. The 800/900Mhz range is better than the 1800Mhz band. O2 run mostly in the 800-900, T's is exclusively in the 1800.
