Reallly sad news but surely not unexpected.
I suppose it was too much to hope that he'd want to waste what could be a great football career in League 1.

However without him we could easily end up going down even further
I couldn't see him staying much longer, I think Delph & maybe Snodgrass may leave too but I hope they stay.

If they do go, I hope we get full value for them & not let them go on the cheap & the money is used on improving the squad so we don't need to arse about in the playoffs again & go straight up

Snodgrass would be a bigger loss. Luckily he's not as old as he looks and should give us another season.

I used to watch him play for my local team Livingston, I was delighted when Leeds signed him as I knew what he could do.

Another lad from Livingston, Leigh Griffiths, would be a great buy for us but there's a few team sniffing about him, could get him for about £1million & he'd bang them in

Thanks for this if he's half the player Snodgrass is he would be worth buying.

Incidentally, I notice you live in Blackburn. Isn't this the origin of the infamous West Lothian question?

Dont know how good Glentoran are but i guess a 3/1 win in a pre season friendly means we are doing something right
and getting ready for the Season next up Wealdstone , followed by Championship , Newcastle & then games against Premership Teams in Blackburn & Burnley

Confident about the new season ahead. Was supposed to be at Burnley now but slept in after a heavy night out.

What's everyone's opinion on the coming season then?

Went to the Jermaine Beckford game at Wealdstone where we were awful , great night otherwise with Wealdstone making us feel very welcome indeed big thank you to everybody at the club that night, most of first team were at Grimsby the same night
As for the season ahead we have been made pre season favs as usual but can we finally deliver, Shane Higgs has really shone in pre season espo at Newcastle the other night btw

Optimistic. Good, solid signings with possibly more to come. Will be at Elland Road to see us take on Exeter next week. A must win.

Did anyone go yesterday, heard Burnley were dire, and we outplayed them, never mind where Leeds are going, if i were a Burnley fan i would be very worried indeed , losing to a L1 side without there 4 main strikers in Beckford, Becchio, snodgraa & Delph (a;lthough he may have been withdrawn for other reasons )

Looking forward to season very much now

Too true. Delph was sensational against Newcastle by all accounts and we should get a good price. I hope the days of us giving away our best players are behind us.

Delph fee agreed with Villa, trouble is i bet(a) it will be undisclosed (b) end up in Bates back pocket, but i bet it Wont go for Team rebuliding

I agree with the above Robbedin...I read yesterday anything between £6-10m was being banded around however I think the same as you, it will probably end up being "undisclosed".

Undisclosed fee? Why?

I suspect Bates sees main Leeds' role as nurturing young players to sell to Championship and Premier League clubs as the future.

It's worrying.

Hi lads just looking for a bit of advice...

How has Leeds pre-season gone? form, players in and out etc

I'm thinking about taking Leeds to beat Exeter on Saturday. Would you fully expect a home win?

cheers!

Leeds have not lost an opening fixture for over 20 years so history points to a home win.

I only watch Leeds about 10 times a season but I always go to the first match at home. Twelve years ago we drew with Arsenal with that little pudding of a player Hasselbaink scoring our goal on his debut. We now play Exeter, oh well!

Just ssen its been officaly annouced that Delph fee is undisclosed , which means nobody knows how much changed hands, (you can bet your last penny Bates will pocket what he can & nobody knows how much , will be avaiable to replace Delph, reee transfer and out of Contract players i would think ,

I thought I'd just bump this thread to wish our team a successful season, only automatic promotion will suffice. It will be the usual rollercoaster but I think we will do it.

It's never dull is it?

Should be a good start to the season tomorrow, 3-0

snodgrass has signed an extension to keep him here until 2013, hope some of the cash we got for Fab can go into securing a new deal for Becks too
