Huge congratulations from this Liverpool supporter. If we get through we'll be wanting to avoid you , as you're probably the bookies favourite for the FA cup now

Three matches against Premier League teams this season. Beat Burnley and Manchester, lost against Liverpool.
We're not bad are we? |

Anyway, figured I'd bump the Leeds supporters thread rather than using other threads to talk about Leeds stuff.
So Beckford wants to leave but we knew that anyway, seems the position is still that he will only be off if the right amount of money is offered and we have a suitable replacement lined up, which is what Grayson has said all along. So at the moment I'm still not convinced he's going anywhere. It will be interesting to see if he plays on Saturday and what sort of reception he gets though. |

I'd rather he left for nothing at the end of the season as those goals which we'll miss out on the rest of the season could prove to be worth more than the £1.5 million we'd get if we cash in on him. Whatever happens though, good luck to him, he's been brilliant for us the past couple of years.
I'd be gutted if he left for a championship team who are no better than Leeds as he could be playing at that level for us next year |

Congrats to Leeds on the win, but I have to say that I think Beckford is a chump. He showed nothing in the cup game that persuaded me he can cut it with the big boys.

It's looking more and more likely that Beckford is off to Newcastle for £2m in the next day or so, the only real question now is who we're getting in to replace him!
Good luck to him, he's been great for us in League 1 but like many I've never really been convinced he's good enough to step up much beyond that. If he does join Newcastle he'll be in the Premiership next season so will be interesting to see how well he does there. |

We've lost key players in the past and Grayson will ensure we have a sound replacement. It seems noone else wishes to leave. A sure sign that the club is in good fettle. |

Are Newcastle a step up from Leeds , lets be honest they will probably be in the Premership Next season albit, in a Relegation battle but if anybody thinks , Newcastle are a Big club they are very much mistaken IMO, Not Won sfa for nearly 40 Years in that time Leeds have won 4 Major Honours

Yes, nothing but an opinion and one coming from a biased position. Ask someone sensible and neutral how the two compare and I'd be suprised if they didn't say we're on par.

Newcastle are a step up at the moment - bigger stadium, bigger crowds, playing in a higher league - although I'd agree that were we in the same league it would be hard to really argue that Newcastle were the bigger club.
Key difference at the moment is that Newcastle are probably able to offering Beckford double or triple the wages he'd get if he stayed at Leeds though. I reckon he's just after more money.

13k sounds completely unplausible. He came from non-league Wealdstone as a semi-professional!. And Blackwell might have been manager but it's common knowledge that the transfer was all Bates doing with the Chelsea academy link.
He barely got on the pitch when he arrived and quickly got moved out on loan to Carlisle and then Scunthorpe before we were relegated and new management took over. |

I don't know how much he's currently on (I did think Robinson was the highest earner though and he's not on more than £10k max) but we offered Beckford a new contract earlier in the season and he wouldn't sign it so he couldn't have been happy with the amount being offered - and I think we've basically offered him as much as we can and won't be offering him any more while we're still in League 1 cos the club is keeping a tight control over these things these days (about time too!)
Newcastle will be offering him a lot more now than we would be able to. Once we get promotion confirmed to the Championship I'm sure there will be new contracts offered to quite a few players, but that won't be until promotion is confirmed. |

Love this ,
Manchester United have apparently set up a call centre for fans who are troubled by their current loss to Leeds. The number is 0800 10 10 10. Calls charged at peak rate for overseas users. Once again the number is 0800 One nothing One nothing One nothing. ![]()

It's a big test for the Nation's favourites today. I hope we don't suffer any reaction from Sunday.
