No team won more than us between 64/75, fact, true we didnt win as much as we should have done, but at a period of small squads , and lets face it , in 72 when we won the cup on Saturday, we were forced to play Wolves on the M,onday and had players ionjured, and just not ready to play
ff 5 years the same situation for Liverpool, and thjey were given 10 days to prepare for the same oppeonts , true they had a European cup final in between but then again Leeds had played a cup final on the saturday Difference , is Harold thompson F A chairman hated Revie and vise versa imagine the samre thing happening today , to the big clubs imagine the outcry with far bigger squads as well ![]() But what people miss by just listing the titles is the fact that we also finished runners up in the league 5 times in that period (and never finished outside the top 4), were FA Cup runners up 3 times, got to 3 European finals etc etc. Not sure I'd use the phrase "totally dominant" myself, but theres no question we were one of the very top teams in English football for the best part of a decade. |

Unfortunately all those runners up positions while they look impressive in the annals of history at the time felt more like being always the bridesmaid.

Well technically Liverpool did.

People are missing nothing by listing just the winners. Runners up means second, and you do not dominate by being second. |

Open letter to Peter Lorimer.
Peter, I have been a lifelong lufc fan since the day Don Revie first ran onto the pitch as Captain. You were/are one of my heroes. I understand that former players rely to a large extent on their former club for a living, so unlike some fans I don't blame you for at least paying lip-service to the current regime for a while. But the time has long since passed when some separation from the current regime was required. I was there when Krasner introduced Bates to the fans as the "club's saviour". I had to listen to Bate's foul-mouthed racist "jokes" at that meeting and saw Susannah squirm with embarrassment. I can't remember if you were there that evening, but I think you were. I knew then that the club was in trouble. I was there at the CVA meeting when we all saw Ken's financial sleight of hand to retain control of the club. I don't think you were in the room that day, but it was plain for all to see that the Astor manoeuvre was a fiddle. Afterwards I saw the Yorkshire Radio contract and other tricks, to get enough votes to win the CVA. I knew then that the club was REALLY in trouble. Since then I have seen the club reach its lowest point ever in the league and continue to struggle as Bates put money first and team second. Sill you gave the man your support! I expect, as a Director, that you noticed the 17million leave the club's books to unaccounted destinations. Did you notice this was roughly the same amount as the debt claimed by Astor and written off by them? Don Revie threatened to leave LUFC when he felt the Board weren't giving him the support he wanted. I think I know what his advice to you now would be! This week we have a judge warning Mr Bates that if he continues his treatment of Mr Levi it would be a criminal matter. Still you support him and the club's criminal (a judge says) behaviour! This is why the fans have turned against you. But it is not too late, you can simply resign from the Board and maintain some of your dignity. Forever your admirer for your playing days, WhiteAndMarching |

I was behind one of the goals at Wolves in 1972 with the rest of the Leeds fans. Free kick, wall formed, McCalliog of Wolves at one end of the wall, Sniffer Clarke towards the other. Sniffer had a crocked knee, bandaged. McCalliog reached round the wall with his leg and kicked Sniffer on the bandage. Sniffer carried off, didn't return; referee didn't see a thing, couldn't. Leeds never looked like winning the match, before or after McCalliog's cowardly act, but I have always remembered him with particular contempt. That Leeds team was the best club side I have ever seen.

I did notice the chairman of the supporters clubs was on Radio Leeds earlier today but all he really said was that based on people he'd spoken to he was pretty sure it was a takeover rather than just "investment". |

Looks as if someone out there is trying to launch a full-on takeover.

Am 51 , so my days of going week in out are long gone, and work prevents me now anyway , remember some intresting away days in the Midlands through the years, 82 , at Wba, 85, at brum, and avoiding the subway army at wolves, which i just about managed to do in 78

We have had a thread on here about it since May 27.
Come and sign up. ![]() There are also links on the thread were you can listen to L.U.S.T meetings live. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/leeds-...pporters-trust I think it might still have the recording on it still. |

Should all be revealed in the next week or so I reckon.
![]() Anyway, in other news, I see Sky are showing our opening League game against Wolves live, so its now a 12.45 kick off. Still need to get a fair few players in before then so will interesting to see what the team looks like. |

Interview with Gary Cooper, LUST chairman on Radio Leeds this morning suggesting the deal is "all but done" and that it's a takeover by a "group from the Middle East".

Hopefully it's a multi billionnaire oil tycoon. The kind who has gold plated zippers on his trousers.

I'll just take anyone who's prepared to run the club as an actual football club, someone who realises that the team on the pitch should be the main focus and someone who tries to work with fans rather than against them.... Crazy ideas, I know, but I can but dream! ![]() Quote:
Thanks for the link Coen, it sounds like Gary Cooper knows who the potential buyers are. I liked the fact he did not rule out their wealth as being in the Man City bracket.

Phil Hay of the YEP tweeted this, early this morning
"Also, #lufc takeover latest. As I said, no indication of exactly when we'll get an announcement but it looks imminent" ![]()
