The verdict on the case vs West Yorkshire Police re: policing costs for Elland Road has also been announced today, seems the club have won - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-18965193

Be interesting to see what the fallout from this is, particularly as one of the quotes from the police talks about the possibility of them "being unable to support the club's existing match arrangements in the present economic climate". Might mean more games moved to earlier kickoffs etc.

Cheers for that, sounds like the bloke is way off on a few things though - like the idea that the new owners would want to get rid of Warnock as manager, can't see that happening at all.

Reports today that Norwich won't be making any further increased bids for Snodgrass which suggests he's staying put, good to hear!

Edit - spoke too soon it seems, apparently reports now that Snodgrass is in talks with Norwich. Seems the club is about to sell another one of its best players...

Very disappointing to hear Snoddy want out, do we accept 2.5m for a player with a year left on his contract (v good price) or do what we done with beckford and play him out.

Warnock wants us promoted this year for his own personal reasons so why not keep Snodgrass.

If the people buying Leeds were that rich why are they letting our best player go......... 2.5 million is not a massive amount of money to lose and if we do get promoted with Snodgrass help, then the money is nothing compared to what riches the Premiership brings.

.............Some things are just not adding up regarding this takeover.

Yep the line the club seem to be taking is that Snodgrass wanted to leave, which I can understand to some extent as he would probably double the money he's on in the Premier League and would also probably have a better chance of international call ups.

But it does raise the question as to why we weren't able to convince him that the club is worth staying with given this apparent takeover, although given the complete lack of ambition we've shown in the last 2 seasons maybe he's just had enough of waiting around when he can be playing in the Premier League next season with another club.

imo we should never have let him get to the last year of his contract anyway, should have been tying him down to a longer contract when we first got back to the Championship, which again comes down to the lack of ambition shown by the club in the last 2 years.

Apparently close to completing a deal for Lee Peltier for Leicester. If we can get that done we'd have the makings of a decent defence, only then need 1-2 more signings to add some creativity going forward.

Am off to Preston today so will be interesting to see how the team is shaping up, hopefully Rodolph Austin will be in the squad today as would like to see him in action.

All this and still no news on a takeover, my gut feeling is it must have fallen through but Bates doesnt want to announce anything to the fans, so in the meantime he's letting Warnock spend the money raised from player sales to try to put together a competitive squad - and it seems he might actually be doing a decent job at it.

The editor of that middle eastern magazine 'Sports Talk' did say it would take another 2 weeks because the new owners wanted extra time with the due diligence, I'm sure Bates would have come out and said if the takeover had fallen through, he takes great pleasure in rubbishing people. There is the possibility its fallen through because no solicitor in the land can untangle his web of deceit..........so many have tried and failed.

Yep there's always the possibility that it's just taking forever to figure out the detail of all the offshore companies, who owns what etc etc. I suppose at the moment at least it does look like Warnock is building a decent team anyway, even if it has been funded by the sale of Snodgrass.

3-1 win today anyway and the team is looking solid enough, but really lacking any creativity/flair going forward. We scored 3 goals but all by defenders and all from setpieces, and I don't think we managed to string more than 2 passes together in the entire game, it was pretty much all just hoofball from the back.

Ah well, it's only pre-season anyway.

I'd guess Austin should get a game against Burton Albion tonight. Will be interesting to see if he lives up to the hype.

Leeds United Supporters Trust reporting this morning on twitter that the takeover deal has collapsed. I'm sure more details will come out fairly soon, but it basically looks like we're stuck with Bates for at least another season.

Some twitter snippets.

@APOPEY: @lufctrust say they believe Ken Bates is an "unwillling seller" & that he has changed financial terms of a deal allegedly agreed in June.

@APOPEY: #lufc @lufctrust believe that prospective buyers are willing to return to the table if the original terms of alleged deal are adhered to.
@BatesOut: T/O has collapsed over a £2m tax bill that KB will have to pay unless he is a director for 2 more years. Obviously, buyers do not want this.

More bits.

@PhilHayYEP: A legal contact of mine says he still believes there's a deal to be done between this consortium and #lufc. Deal not dead but v precarious
From the official web site

A club statement...

Leeds United ('The Club') announces that the exclusivity period granted to a potential investor as mentioned in the statement of 26 June has ended.

The Club remain happy to continue discussions, but not on an exclusive basis, so as not to prevent other options passing.

The first priority must be to ensure that the credibility of any future investor or ultimate owner is such, that the Leeds legacy and its future is in safe hands, back in the Premiership.

The Club will continue to be receptive to approaches from potential new partners who can establish that they have the necessary credentials.

Meanwhile, it is encouraging that there is a new spirit at the club under the management of Neil Warnock and his ten new signings.

Sounds very much like Bates has played silly buggers and scuppered the deal.

Will be interesting to see what reaction this provokes at the first 2 home games!

From the L.U.S.T site

Further to our reports earlier today that the proposed takeover of Leeds United has collapsed, we have been working to find out more details about the situation.

We were told that in the last few days negotiations between Leeds United and the potential investors were delicately poised, and that yesterday Shaun Harvey flew to Monaco for discussions about the deal. This morning we were informed that the deal for a takeover of the club had collapsed.

As soon as we were able we shared news of this development with our members and with the wider Leeds United fan base, who have been anxiously waiting for updates since the club’s last statement in June.

As the day has progressed, we have done all we can to get a full picture of the situation at Elland Road. What has become clear to us is that events are moving quickly, and that urgent discussions have been taking place in the light of this deal’s collapse.

Those discussions have resulted in this evening's statement from Leeds United on their official website, which has confirmed that the period of exclusivity agreed with a potential investor has ended.

The statement goes on to say that Leeds United are happy to continue discussions with this investor on a non-exclusive basis, and we are encouraged that the opportunity is still there to conclude a deal that had reached an advanced stage, but had looked to be over this morning.

We are also pleased to read in this statement that Leeds United remain willing to listen to approaches, and we welcome this positive stance. As we have stated previously, Leeds United Supporters' Trust have spoken with several parties interested in the future of Leeds United, and we are pleased that the door appears to be open for them to come forward.

At L.U.S.T. we remain committed to our Vision Statement and the desire our members have for change at Leeds United. While we are disappointed that the uncertain situation at Elland Road looks set to continue, we will keep doing all we can to help bring about a positive future for Leeds United.

As ever, we will update the fans with developments whenever we can.
