Not pretty last night and nothing to get to excited about But win is a win no matter how albeit against 10 msn without regular keeper on
Still doesn't paper over cracks how average we are we need a goalscorer and quick
Ross has stated he would be happy in the striker role but we need some quality loan players in or this season will be a struggle.. I would also have Peltier as right back leaving Byram as our only wide man.

Tbh I've pretty much already written this season off because there's just too much that needs doing to overhaul the squad. But at least now it looks like the manager and owners actually have a decent longer term vision around developing the squad (something we never had under Bates) and I think McDermott has started the process well by bringing in good young players like Murphy & Wootton, plus we have other youngsters who are still developing like Lees, Byram, Mowatt, Dawson & Poleon.

But we're still stuck with too many past it players that Warnock bought in on big salaries that we can't now shift so without a massive influx of new investment it will take a few years to sort this out. At least we now seem to be headed in the right direction, so I'll happily take a mid table finish this year (shouldnt really be an issue achieving that based on performances to date) and look for us to continue what we've done this season - hopefully release a few of the overpaid squad players and look to bring 2-3 more quality youngsters again next year.

(Ideally some that can play in wide attacking positions. )

I agree, that is a sensible outlook. Small steps in the right direction will keep me happy.

I hope we can keep hold of BMD

Shifting the deadwood should be our main priority after league safety.

I think you will be changing all of that today.

And if McCormack had put his chances either side of the keeper instead of straight at him it would have been more.

When you score 4 you shouldn't be moaning but Birmingham
We're that poor I disappointed we didn't double it tbh

Credit to McDermott for changing things around today, it certainly worked - 5 at the back with Warnock and Byram pushing forward gave us the width we've lacked all season, Rodolph Austin was a revelation playing in a more attacking central midfield role rather than being used in the holding role, and Matt Smith had a great game up front in his first league start of the season. Add to that McCormack lively as ever and Mowatt again showing signs of real class and it all added up to a great team performance.

Although to be fair Birmingham were pretty awful.

We haven't played that well for quite a while! It could have been 8-0.

Surreal, I never expected that. Whatever BMcd was working on over the international break clearly did the trick.

A good morale booster today. All we need to do now is play like that every week. If only!

Lee Clark's post match interview was that of a man who knows he's out of a job tomorrow.

Thought. It was very good myself honest and straight to point he didn't hide either when why his team had been so bad, straight to point didn't blame referee, pitch or off side decisions against him something some managers higher up could well take note

I liked todays line-up, it was no coincidence the added width produced a couple of goals from crosses. BMD promised a 'response' from the team regarding previous results and performances and he got it.

I cant remember the last time we won a game by more than one goal, it's always nail-biting finales to our games.

Slightly surprised we've brought in another striker with Smith starting to do well and Hunt, Varney & Poleon around.

But then Blackstock has always looked decent when playing against us (think he scored for Forest in both league games against us last season), and so far Hunt, Varney & Poleon have all been pretty crap this season. So it could well be a good move.

He has plenty of experience at this level but on the other hand he's similar to what we already have in that position he's certainly not a twenty goal a season player, maybe BMD sees something in Blackstock.

Wonder how much of the 15k pw we are paying him?

What a way to end 5 straight away defeats and Ross McCormack scores his 7 goal in 4 games not good enough for Scotland. Though.

Love to hear a story of today had everything late ko
6 goals and only 1 point from play offs

Ross said to put him up front and he has not let us down.

Bmd teams usually get better 2nd half of season so fingers crossed and hope we can get a little run going. What time is Football League show on .
