I have a whole stack of cassettes which have never been re-released on CD; not that I could afford to replace them even if they had been.

Whats an 8 track?

I have lots of cassettes from the 90's. there far from completly dead yet. Still lots of stereos being sold with cassette drives

Well I guess you could always buy a modern Audio unit with your other requirements (iPod etc.) & use a seperate cassette player & plug it into it, compromise but it will work.

An 8 track was a Large (ish) cassette (about 3/4 size of a VHS tape which had (wait for it) 8 tracks on it so you could shuffle through the music. It was made for both cars & home players & was before cassettes came along, in fact if my memory serves me correctly cassettes killed it off.

To be honest I did not realise they still made cassette decks, I got rid of my last one around 10 years ago!
