Hi guys
I'm looking into getting an iPhone, can someone that's got one tell me how good well it can be used as a sat-nav device? i've got a blackberry but it's absolutely awful, can the iPhone be used as a replacement for my TomTom?

Thanks

not until someone writes a sat nav app for it if you want voiced turn by turn instructions. apparently tomtom and telenav are working on apps.

Not yet. It'll give directions, and show you where you are on the map, but the current Google Maps app won't give you turn-by-turn directions that update depending on where you are.

One of the major sat-nav manufacturers (can't remember which) ARE developing an app that will allow for turn-by-turn navigation shortly.

Yes, apparently tomtom are on the case. I have tried the gps function quite a few times in maps and it's fairly quick and gets a good fix, better than I was expecting

Got mine this morning (16GB) and was watching it as the wife was driving us up the M6 earlier, it was a cracking view and update speed is terrrific, I was able to watch as we were going under the signposts etc that were visible on the satellite view
It won't replace your Tom Tom yet, yet!

Because it won't give you turn by turn instructions.
