I am getting blu-ray dvd player installed on monday but i was just wondering will my 24 dvds still work in the blu-ray for example.

Blu-Ray players are backwards compatible and will play DVDs.-

Most Blu-Ray players will upscale an SD picture.

You've already asked this on other threads and been given the answer.

As long as the dvd's are R2 they will play - if they are other regions they wont play.

You might have a few from other regions that are dual coded - Warner R1 tv and cartoon releases are often R2 aswell ,and Universal and BBC titles from R4 are usually R2 too.

Dont get all excited thinking your Bluray player is multiregion if you find this happens

Is it possible to get a multi region blue-ray player as I have a large number of Region1 DVDs.

i looked into this 2/3 months ago. there appeared then to be none on the market with simple handset hacks (or at least no known hacks at the time) but there are some on the market from the netherlands that have been hardware 'chipped' but are v expensive, and then there's the potential warranty issue with chipped players to deal with. i ended up keeping my old player for r1 disks.

depending on how may you've got and if you can be bothered another possibility is to rip your r1 disks and re-write them region free.

It goes to four figures (at least)

Obviously with that number its worth getting a multiregion player.

However - you need to take 2 things into account.

Firstly - have a look at your R1 dvd's on your current player and decide if your tv is doing a decent job of upscaling them.

TV's vary in their ability to upscale and if your tv does a good job buying an upscaling player may not actually improve pictures.

Secondly - depending on how far you sit from the screen for normal viewing you may not even be able to tell whether the picture you are watching is upscaled or not.

If you decide you still want one - pop over to AV Forums where there are some links for a Panasonic multiregion BD player for about £375.

Sony standalones are too awful to contemplate at the moment
