Advice needed re 3 contract
mellowyellow

16 and a half months into an 18 month contract with 3 and I really want to leave, I can’t stand them any longer! On Friday I was on the phone for over an hour to customer services and truly didn’t understand a word of what they told me. The first guy spoke clear and concisely and told me I would have to pay up to the end of my contract but could leave right away.

The woman they put me through to (whom they said would do this) may as well have spoken to me in Martian. I finally got her to give me may pac but it was a fight, she made it feel like she was doing me a favour.

I have given my pac to o2 pay and go who will hopefully connect it on Tuesday.

My questions are does this act as notice to 3?
Will my direct debit be stopped when 3 have taken the next two payments?
And what should I expect on Tuesday when the number is being ported?

Sorry for being a bit uncertain but this was my first (and last) phone contract.

Once the PAC is activated by O2 your 3 line will disconnect and you should be only charged for the remainder of the contract. All in one go I'd imagine - once you disconnect you will settle up with them

I was such a valued customer I didn't even have to ask for my PAC when I rang to terminate - they kept offering it to me! And I was only on about ten minutes too! And this was my second contract with them.

In all fairness, the CSR gave me all the dates clearly as to what would happen when i.e. disconnection, final direct debit.

Did they try to offer you any incentives to stay? I wasn't offered any.

She offered to check the signal in my area I think but don't know why, no upgrades offered just spent time telling me i couldnt get a better deal than 3 on other networks

Oh dear, dont like the look of this thread.I am one month into 18 contract with 3.
What are the reasons for them being so bad? I've had no problems(yet)by the way,and it seems like I've got a really good deal!

What deal are you on?

My story is on other threads but here it is again. When my first contract came up for renewal they offered me this:

Six months half price rental
12 month contract
the phone I wanted
the promise of an upgrade at the 9th month
No upgrade came in the 9th month, so ended up paying more than I had bargained for. Never got an upgrade call, I had to phone them (they phoned me the first time).

The offered me a phone with less specs than the one I got last year and it was on an 18 month contract. With less minutes too. I could get a better phone from Three but for the same amount of money as I am paying just now - no loyalty bonus.

I can get a better deal from T-Mobile and O2 for the what I'm paying Three just now and a better phone. And on both of these networks your picture messages come off your allowance, whereas with Three you have to pay for them.

Some don't like the off-shore call centre. I didn't use them much but had no problems when I did.

O2 comes with free voicemail. My wife upgraded with O2 and got a really good retention deal - with a loyalty bonus and that was after her first year with them.

If you are getting a good signal and happy with the service, you should be OK for the duration of your contract.
