Moving a ipod touch to another computer

Up to today I've been syncing my touch from a Mac Mini with the music on an external HD.

Now the HD is making the Click 'O' Death so I've backed up my music.

Is it possible to transfer the ipod to another computer (my Doze Box) and keep my (Paid for) Firmware updates.

Its going to be bad enough having to re-rate everything (my playlists are based on random selections of 3,4 & 5 starred tracks)

Thanks

Your updates are associated with your iTunes account, whatever computer you're on, you just need to authorise your new computer if need be. Your firmware is already on the touch. If you need to, it'll restore to the current or next version up from what's on your iPod. And you can redownload any apps you bought too, if need be.

if you open finder and click on your username then click on library and there should be a folder called iTunes, copy that to a hard drive and replace on new mac accordingly and you will keep the firmware updates to hand inc (if on 2.0) your downloaded apps from app store.

I am just assuming the apps will be in there as I have yet to use the app store on my macbook via iTunes. Click inside the itunes folder and look for a folder called Mobile Applications to double check.

also look in the music folder in finder for a iTunes folder as this will also contain any downloaded music and album artwork and even the libray data file aswell

Well I'm moving to Windows* (mainly as my other mac is an old i-book with small HD) - I've backed up to DVD using the iTunes backup tool, so reimporting on windows I know is do-able.

*I can't afford a new mac or external HD - TBH I might sell the mini as it was only used as a music server for when I was living at my parents... New Mac will go on 'When I'm rich' shopping list

not much difference really, as said copy the itunes folder in lbrary that will go here: C:\Users\<login name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer

and the itunes folder in music will go here: C:\Users\<login name>\Music
