We recently purchased an LG HD TV which we have connected to our Virgin V+ box and DVD Player. Having contacted the Virgin Helpline, they helped with the set up so we could congtrol the volume through the V+ handset etc and having an HD Lead, we connected the TV to the V+ Box with that. On the BBC HD Channel, the picture is fantastic but on all the other channels there is like a graney effect around people (not a crisp edge) and it can be annoying.

Is it because we are trying to watch the channels through the HDMI source and would we be better off changing to a Scart Sockets and changing the settings from HDMI on TV and V+ to AV?

Although we have the brilliant picture on BBC HD, we don't watch that channel much so the other channels are poor in comparison.

Any good suggestions please??

This normally has nothing to do with HDMI, just the TV upscaling the SD to fit the screen. Some TVs do this better than others, yours it sounds does a poor job at it.

in which case you are probably better off switching back to scart connections and selecting the appropriate setting on you v+ box. see if it helps.

just to say - standard defination pictures will always look poor in comparison to high def, especially on lcd tvs. if the problem persists try altering the tv's picture controls to lessen the effect. colour, contrast, brightness etc.
