I've bought one of these off ebay, but it keeps asking for a TUTV card before it will record anything - basically, it exhibits the behaviour described here http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/cgi-b...num=1194050727

Any fix for this, or am I stuffed with this? I don't want to pay £10/month for poor quality extra TV...

Should record without the card.

1 Try deleting / unactivating any Top Up channels

Thanks - have now tried both, and the problem persists

The channel scan no longer completes since the update (I guess it needs to download updated s/w first) but it does find the BBC channels and refuses to record them... I don't know if it's worth waiting to see if it improves when it downloads the s/w update?

Did you have a previous Freeview box ? Was the reception okay ? The Top Up box works via signals sent over the same channel as Five (I think) which is one of the weakest where I am - you can usually get the BBC channels as they tend to be the stronger signal.

It's a bug that effects certain boxes - inserting even an unactivated card solves the problem. Is the box an ex-contract box?

Thanks - according to the seller, it looks like the box is tied to a contract. They're refunding me, so fair enough, I guess.

Oddly, guide still not updating - trying to decide if it's worth sticking the thing on freecycle...
