Hello,

I'm a journalist writing a piece for a national newspaper. I'm wondering if any folks here have recently received a cold call from O2, offering insurance with the warning that 'Bluetooth hackers' are breaking into phones and making calls for which the customer will be responsible -- unless they take out insurance.

Has this happened to you recently? I'm interested in hearing about any similar experiences at the hands of O2.

Thanks for that -- I shall digest it now.

Story should go into the Guardian, when I've got to the bottom of it.

Its Carphone Warehouse mate, they sell your details on to dodgy folks without your permission, has nothing to do with o2, but the pushy salesmen make it sound as if they are from o2

Bluetooth Hackers. Sigh. The Real Hustle did that a long time ago.

They dial blocks of numbers CPW use. They phish for bank details and rob you.. no insurance documents are sent.

Aye, thanks to all. Have finished researching this now.

I found a few other affected folks. Seem to be targetting new iPhone subscribers.

Piece going in tomorrow's Guardian, I believe.
