Hi All,

I am on the search for a new cooker with separate grill & I have no idea what to get. .

Now I would prefer gas, as I have been told that wok cooking is better on gas rather than electric but am unsure how true that is.

Now after doing some reading, I have foundout that because I live in a flat, all gas cookers must be fitted with an FSD or FFD (Flame Supervision Device / Flame Failure Device). Now this dramatically increases the cost of the oven .

A normal gas cooker can be bought for around £200 but cookers with this device on start from £300 in most retailers for a basic Hotpoint model which isn't that good.

I have seen a couple of Beko ovens with this device that start from £180 to £250 but they haven't got a good write up .

Does anyone here know of a fair priced oven with this device or an electric oven that is able to do Wok cooking really well ?.

Thanks to all that reply

You could always buy a second hand cooker, alot of them are better than you can buy in the shops today plus you have the added bonus of you can fit them in your flat as they dont come under the new fsd ruling.

Good idea.

Some people change their kitchens quite often and sell off a cooker/hob/oven/cooker hood which can be nearly new.

I've had a quick look on E-Bay and they have quite a selection. You may be lucky to find a really good cooker at a bargain price in your area.

Happy hunting!
