Boring format (viewer voting). No HOH or POV. Live audience for evictions (but not large & frenzied like BB UK & Australia).
Different musical theme & intro. Less talented producers. Three HG money winners - not two. Same house with different layout &
furnishings. Banner planes flying overhead with messages to HGs. Same host.

That pretty much sums up the 1st year Americans were introduced to the BB concept. It was a novelty but very dull.

Here's a short video clip from the the 1st 2 minutes of the last TV show from that 1st season.

Y'know, for all its faults, BB1 had one thing none of the other shows had (US or elsewhere):

Brittany the nose ring girl.

God, I was (and am) in love with her.

BTW, the theme song is taken directly from the original Dutch version. The Aussies still use a faster techno version of it.

Here's another video clip from that last TV show from BB2. This shows Julie Chen (doing a kind of bad Davina McCall impersonation) as she provides TV viewers with a behind-the-scenes tour of the BB2 Control Rooms & then actually enters into the House & greets the 3 finalists:

Neither. I fell for her as they showed her intro package, where she had black hair, and was disappointed to see she'd dyed it. The change from pink to green didn't do much for me, so I was glad when she dyed it black again. Too bad she left like three days later. From what I understand, it's been black ever since.

Watched these clips yesterday and does Julie know how to hold the tension when announcing the winner:

"With 59% of the vote, the winner is... Eddie"

She must have held the dramatic pause for at least a quarter of a second - I suppose a few seconds of silence would have bitten into advertising time!!!

Anyway, nice to see how US Big Brother was Big Brother style. The house has hardly changed - but where was the old studio - footage of an actually eviction (from leaving the house to entering the studio) in 2000 would be great to see!
