I have a 26" TX26LXD60 which is fine as is only 22 months old. I am waiting for my Panasonic DMPBD30EG-K Bly-ray player to arrive and will hook up via hdmi.

My quetion is as this is a he ready tv, wi I notice the improved quality, or do I need a bigger tv like the Panasonic LZD80?

You should easily notice the quality improvement. The colours are improved a lot on HD on your TV and you should notice an improvement in detail (lesser noticeable than on bigger TVs but still should be better than SD)
