Possible to change account holder of o2 contract?

Hi is it possible to transfer an o2 account to someone else, for instance iv had a contract in my mums name since i was 16 (i'm now 20) and was wondering whether its possible to get the contract changed over to me as the account holder?

I have read that it is possible if my mum rings 2302 and sorts it out.

The reason i cant start a new contract is because im currently 3 months into a 18 month iphone contract.

Also another reason is that my brother has a contract in my mums name as well and has upgraded to the new 3g iphone today which means i cant upgrade in store for another 30 days!

I went through this with T-Mobile about 2-and-a-bit years ago - and it was a right minefield. For starters, they require the person taking on the contract re-start it from the beginning (but they don't get a new phone, they have to use the original one), then they make them choose a new price plan (if the one the phone is currently on no longer exists) and of course all of this only gets done if the new person passes the credit check. Needless to say we didn't bother in the end.
I don't know how O2 deal with this kind of thing, but that's the story with T-Mobile (or it was then)
My advice would be, wait til the current contract is in it's final month, then YOU phone up try and get a new contract yourself. If it succeeds, get your mum to cancel the original one, but if for some reason you can't get one then just get her to upgrade, get a new phone and carry on as you are.
