What do you use it on?

I love having it on crackers with cheese, lovely. Used to hate the stuff.

It's one of the few mass-market brand names that has no serious competitors. If you like pickle there's nothing quite like it, and all the pretentious Mrs Miggins' ale-and-oak-smoked-parsnip-conserve-with-cyder-vinegar type posh versions taste much worse.

It's good under the cheese in cheese-on-toast.

I can't think of anything other than cheese to accompany Branston pickle, except maybe cold meats - and definitely with bread of the crusty variety.

Pan Yan was odd. Not exactly unpleasant but the flavour was strange and unexpected.

Works well with a sausage roll, or with a mutton pie.

Very true, I've tried posh ones including at the bbc good food show - nothing comes close to it.

OH WOW. I never thought of this!! I always put worcester sauce or tabasco on top of cheese on toast. Often thought about how lovely pickle would be on it but didnt want to toast it. Thanks for the great idea!!

I like it on cheese sarnies, but i recently bought the squeezy thin stuff (minus lumps) and i hated it. When i squeezed it out, it resembled a dog turd !!!!

So now i just buy the lumpy one.

See I don't like the lumps , although I don't like the stuff without lumps either as I think it tastes odd, so I buy the lumpy one but don't have the lumps?? If that makes any sense?

My gran is the same. She hates the liquid one so buys the lumpy one and just uses the sauce.

I love pickle and cheese sandwiches, and pickle and ham. It makes them so much more interesting.

OMG That's a name i've not heard in years!! Must say i prefer Branston, and Pan Yan didn't do themselves any favours with their Curry Flavour one... as i recall, it was totally disgusting!!

I love it with crackers and cheese or a cheese sandwich, I also add a big dollop on top of my baked potato it's also great with salad.

I agree! For the same reason I used to hate Ski Strawberry Yoghurt. The lumps tasted like and had the texture of slimy balls of blotting paper or worse...

But I don't like the unlumpy part of Branston Pickle either. It tastes to me like I'm eating the gloopy stuff you use to strip paint off furniture.

I always buy the small chunks type of Branston Pickle as I don't like the large chunks.

Mix the Branstons with some coleslaw and put it in a cheese sandwich. You'll never look back.
