Unfortunately you can't and have to stick with one of the preset tones.

I dont see why people have to send a phone back just because of something very silly like they cannot customise message tones. Why is there a need for this? I have a Samsung D900i but i had a SE K800i before, i dont really care that i cannot use message tones!

May be just me, but If I buy something I want it to work the way I expect it to. Why settle for second best when you don't have to.

The OP isn't you though.

Not having message tones is a big no no for me too. That's why I stay away from Samsungs. They have only just introduced themes in their latest phones!

Thats fair enough but its something I specifically want on my phone - therefore the G600 doesnt have all the functions I personally want on a phone
