Yep I do. I reheat pretty much everything. I've never had food poisoning or anything and to be honest I dont really worry about it anyway.

I do it all the time.... As long as it was cooled properly in the first place and then put in the fridge I'm sure it's OK. Well I'm not dead and don't have the squits!

Don't reheat the rice but I reckon you'll be fine with the rest.

Would depend what it was, and how long I'd left it. I wouldn't reheat rice though, all the TV cooks say not to.

I re-heat everything. Just make sure it's 'piping hot' all the way through though.

I put everything in the fridge though to slow down the growth of those pesky bacteria.

I re-heat unused rice that came from a take-away. No problems - ever.

from The Food Standards Agency

It's true that you could get food poisoning from eating reheated rice. But it's not actually the reheating that's the problem – it's the way the rice has been stored before reheating.

Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.

So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat.

It's best to serve rice when it has just been cooked. If that isn't possible, cool the rice as quickly as possible (ideally within one hour) and keep it in the fridge for no more than one day until reheating.

Remember that when you reheat any food, you should always check that it's piping hot all the way through, and avoid reheating more than once.

What's wrong with reheating rice (take-away or home-cooked)? I've always eaten reheated rice (that was cooked at home).

EDIT: I see lakes has posted an answer. Thanks.

if you cook rice at home and you do too much what you shoulddo is to make it cold asap, run it under the tape till cold then place it in the fridge.

All these 'old wives tales' come from the period before we all had fridges.

Not aimed at twinkletoes1 especially, but a question for all those saying not to reheat rice.

If you buy the Indian or Chinese from any of the supermarkets, do you bin the rice? Or eat it cold?

Because I'm assuming none of your reheat the pilau or egg fried rice before having the food....

My kids always eat leftover takeaways cold.

I grew up in the days before "Use By" and "Best Before" when food was always safe
