This probably sounds like a silly question but my contract with o2 expires early September and I'm thinking of moving to T-Mobile, can I sign up to T-Mobile next month when I put in the request to cancel my o2 contract??

You can ring to cancel 30 days before the contract ends and ask for the PAK code to transfer your number. As soon as you have that you can move to any provider you want.

Im in the same situation.
I like the look of the new tariff's on T Mobile but is their coverage comparable with o2?

Pretty much. Youll always get some people saying one network is better coverage than another but its a personal thing. One persons postcode might be better on o2, might be better on vodafone or might be better on t-mobile. There isnt that much of a difference nationwide.

Pop into a shop and ask them to perform a streetcheck for you on any areas you are going to use the phone.

Also, you will find that o2 will try to keep you on as a customer by offering a similar deal to the one you have in mind so have a think about what you would accept to stay with them.
I have tried to leave O2 twice and each time ended up staying because they offered a similar deal, it's generally less hassle than swapping networks if the deal is worth it, if it's not then no harm done, just leave like you planned

I've just helped my mum get out of a shocking O2 contract that she's had for 3yrs with no upgrade - £19pm 50mins 25txts!! - now she's on simplicity with 200min 400txts for £10pm which is a £5 discount compared to normal and in a month when the phone she wants is in stock she can phone them to get the standard pay monthly contract with the above mins/txts for £15pm which is a £10 discount compared to online and the free phone. Not bad for her first upgrade deal
BTW, she was gonna go to 3 on the 300 mix match(mins and txts) tariff for £15pm and free phone so it's a decent compromise!

Good luck!

If youre not fussed about keeping your old number then just ring o2 to cancel and go into a shop to sign up. Ask them if you can see what numbers they have instore so you can pick one if you want to.

I think that you get a better deal on www.t-mobile.co.uk could be wrong though but as said if you dont want to keep your number just use the new number that comes with the new T-Mobile phone and cancel the O2 contract when it ends.

The tmobile deals are the same on the web as in the shops with a couple of smallish exceptions. On all the main contracts they are the same.
