N96 vs Omnia vs Touch Diamond
I currently have an N95 that's nearing the end of it's 18 month contract with vodafone (been with them for 6 years)... looking to upgrade and I've had Nokias for my past 7 phones.
Any thoughts on which of these 3 phones I should go for? And are any release dates confirmed for these (with different networks etc.)? To be honest, I'll probably end up with the N96 - but if it keeps getting delayed, I may have to defect! I do like the Symbian interface on the N series, and the main things I use my N95 for other than txts/calls is taking photos (so the 5MP camera is a must), checking e-mails/going online and also the occasional use of Maps if I get lost ![]() Any thoughts...?

If camera is important then id rule out the diamond. Ive only so far seen a preproduction model of it but the camera wasnt great. They never are on HTC products. Internet looked really good on it though.
Not seen the Omnia yet so i cant comment and the N96 is very similar to the N95 in terms of features. Im in the same boat as you. Got to upgrade my N95 in a months time and i think im just going to wait for the N96 purely because my N95 has been fantastic for me. |

like previous poster said if camera is the most important thing or larger amount of storage then the n96.
Cant comment on omnia however early reports suggest its not fantastic. the n96 isnt really that much different from the n95. Owning the touch diamond i can truly say its great but its not flawless (you will never find a phone that is) Battery life is poor and only 4ggbb internal storage for me are its big limitations, but in general its a great phone. |

Thanks for your comments, folks!
Storage is not so crucial... but camera is. Apparently the N96 camera is superior to the N95 (improved flash etc) - and the comments about the HTC's camera would sway me away from it. Shame to hear negative reports about the Omnia, I thought maybe it was time to turn to the dark side and switch, but maybe not...! Getting an N95 8GB in place of my N95 would be silly - so like skimminstones, I think I'm going to wait for the N96 too. It's a shame it's not radically different to the N96, as all my previous upgrades have been different - (5110 > 3310 > 8310 > 7250 > 7610 > N70 > N95). |

Thanks for that link
All things considered, I reckon I'm going to go for the N96 (eventually) - T3 magazine have said it's available on 3 from September, I'm sure vodafone will be the same(ish)...

You obviously like your Nokias (as do I) but check out the Samsung i8510 innov8. Its due out in August, has everything the n96 has (except the dvb-h tuner, which is useless in the uk anyway) but it has an 8mp camera. Its worth a look at least....
