When not hosting BB, Julie's one of the hosts of the CBS Early Show.

Here's Chenbot's offical CBS bio: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/...in509336.shtml

I agree that she's quite an attractive-looking woman. Every once in awhile, she actually behaves like a human being. When she interviews evictees on the Early Show, she's quite engaging. I just wish we'd see that on BB.

No, can't think of a single thing. IMO, she's dreadful but so is the whole eviction/damp squib entry into studio/interview aspect of the US BB show. They should take a look at Dermot and BBLB to liven up those studio segments. Couldn't they at least give Julie a live audience of family and friends of house guests?
She's like a smiley headmistress talking to her pupils on those live links, they are just cringeworthy.
But the entire BB persona is missing from the show, no feeling of a voice of authority or any punishments for house guests who break the rules. (Are there any rules??)
Once bigmouth Dana was evicted, I lost interest in the show.

Nah, she just ate some bad salsa, but alas, the paralysis hasn't stopped her breathing yet.

I like her too. She treats the HMs like what they are, contestants on a game show

That's right swing ! As a result of that, some of the bitterness that is natural in a show like this, is successfully shifted out of the picture.

PS - Apologies, I haven't had the time to visit that other place recently, say hi to all there.

I hope they show the clip from last year's eviction show from five HGs to four when Marcellas did not use the veto on himself (unlike what Ali will do tonight) and was evicted. The first thing Julie did at the start of Marcellas' eviction interview was to whack him on the back of his head with her note cards because he didn't save himself. That's probably my #1 Julie highlight of the four years so far.

I realy like her style of presenting. Her coolness definitely wins over Davina's headless chicken act!

Julie whacking someone on the head with her word perfect script cards? Maybe I've been too harsh too quickly!

You'd be hard-pressed to find any fans in the US who'd agree. It's not coolness, it's stiffness. Several friends of mine here in the US who are BB fans watched BBUK for the first time this summer and we were all taken aback with how much better the show seems with enthusiastic presenters. We liked Davina for her goofy cheer. Most importantly, we liked her because she WASN'T Julie Chen.

I said it before, she's more of an anchor than a host, and she acts the same way to the gerbils that she'd act around a foreign diplomat. The host of the show should be Orwellian, all-seeing and exerting control over the gerbils.

If you don't like Davina, maybe you'd like Gretel Killeen, the Australian host, she's enthusiastic like Davina, but a little more grounded, almost motherly to the gerbils.

But don't let your dislike of Davina trick you into thinking that Julie's the least bit watchable.

That's why I like her. She's so brittle & contrived that she is hilarious to watch ....

I'll take Gretel over either Davina or Julie. Gretel seems to understand the right balance of emotions needed to host a series that covers the full emotinoal spectrum over the two or three months.

I prefer Davina to Julie for entertainment, but Davina does tend to go a little over the top occasionally.

Julie has gotten better--not hard over four series--but too often she still comes across in her newsreader role. BB is about entertainment, and the host needs to do at least some of the entertaining. But I'm not sure that a host like Gretel or Davina would be as suited to our format here in the US without audience voting or live eviction crowds..
