problems in the states
my mates just gone to the states on holiday . he as a nokia 2630 phone on o2 network but for some reason it wont let him text . h4e says the o2 logo is stil on screen . and it doesnt say no network or even emergency only . he had this phone 2 weeks .it works fine in the uk . wonder if anyone as a clue why it wont work over there thanks

just looking on the forum i notice a guy saying to someone if you have a duel band it wont work in the states you need a tri band for it to work in the states is this true . i think the nokia 2630 is a duel band

Very much depends where your friend is in the states. He did check before going that his phone would work where he was going.

The Nokia 2630 is only a dual band phone.
It however comes in two flavours. Either a 900/1800 Dual Band (like you'd buy here in Europe, Australasia, Middle East etc). and 850/1900 Dual Band - for the USA market. As the Nokia 2630 was bought in the UK it will be the 900/1800 model and not the 850/1900 model and therefore will not work in the USA. The minimum you need for the USA is tri-band, as the USA uses different frequency than most of the rest of the world. |
