Kieron Edwards from Top Up TV has now confirmed that an elective download is available to fix the problems caused by the split NIT.
The split NIT transmission caused the DTR not to receive all the available channels:

My box offered me an upgrade this morning and brought the software up to 2.93.... the message regarding successful upgrade was the same as for v2.91 though... so no idea of what has actually changed. I suspect it is only the rescan fix - pity its not the FF fix, though .

For a week now both my Thomson boxes have locked up overnight - i suspect this is when the episode guides update. TUTV assured me that forcing the upgrade would cure the locking up problem but it hasn't - any suggestions - i'm getting fed up of pulling the plugs every morning?

Not sure if this is the right thread to say this, but I bought one from Tesco last week for my mum. She used to have a DigiFusion DVRT145 which was very good until it decided to stop working last week after 2 years!

Hopefully the latest firmware downloads have fixed any problems. I know it's only been a week or so, but I can't find major fault in it. The Series Links have all worked fine which was what I thought wouldn't work, if anything.

I must admit, there was nothing in any menus yesterday (is that what you mean by invisible text?) but a simple unplug/plug sorted that out. I have Sky+ and I'd be lying if I said I never had to do that before with Sky+.

All in all, an extremely good machine.

Time will tell though... (I've probably already tempted fate.)

As you say youve only had it a week - Initially I was glowing with praise for the box - now I am trying (when box allows me) to watch my recordings and return for a refund!

its horrible! take it back! i took it back, bought a sky+ box and self installed it! sky+ isnt perfect but my god it pulls this apart!

im sure other freeview offerings are better than the thomson though.

One thing I have found with the new update, start a recording and press pause or go in to the menus, then do nothing and the unit now goes in to power save mode, well I think that is what it is as the screen goes dark!

I got a couple of updates in the last 2 weeks or so but the message was the same as the pervious updates.
I switched on my box the other night and it had no signal, EPG or libaray, I re-booted it and they all came back.
Whats going on here, I seem to have to re-boot this box often to get it to work.

i also had the same not long after the new firmware release,my library of recordings stayed intact,but signal was lost,no channels were received,epg was lost, and i had to disconnect the mains lead to get the box back to normal.
I just work round the faults on this box,the fast forward/rewind bug is the most obvious thing not fixed.

Having bought this Thompson box - DTI 6300-25(Quickly turning out to be one of my bigger mistakes) I couldn't get any reception on the Mux A channels. I performed the task above and it worked fine....for 2 days......now i'm back in the same boat with no Mux A channels.

They pick up fine on my old freeview box so I assume it's a problem with this new one.

Any advice?

Yes take it back. The wharfdale tutv is no better i took my back after 1 day. Tutv know of the prob but have done nothing to reslove it. Just get sky + with free broadband and weekend call and you will never look back.. All the freeview pvr's are no good unless you buy the cheap ones with no extras.. There is to much info like 14 day epg series link etc they can't cope with the new software. For the box to work like sky + does, it would cost about £350.00 to put on the market and no one would buy it..

From what I gather, the Sky+ box isn't without its problems either, and this has been around at least 3 years longer than the TUTV DTRs

Both the Thomson and Wharfedale DTRs are very capable of being great machines, at the moment they are very good.....and will get better in the not too distant future

Does the aerial lead plug directly into the DTR?....and do both tuners work?

If you don't need it, try turning the RF Modulator off.

How do you mean both tuners work? Is that the two sets of bars on the 'Tuning Information' screen?

It brings up a list of about 6 frequencies most of which when you scroll through have a signal of strength 6 and Quality 7.

Whilst attempting to rescan My DTI6300-16, after restoring to factory settings following the removal of a corrupt recording, it comes up with the message "It has not been possible to load TopUpTV software"
It states Found 10 Frequencies and 97 Channels.
I have tried Force next OAD a few times but still cannot recieve any programmes.
The info screen states version 2.91 and the Transmitter line is blank but I think it used to state "Winter Hill".
The unit has been left on standby for a couple of nights since.

Any suggestions as where to go next would be much appreciated.
