America's Player Returns!
Quote:
Viewers To Vote For The Houseguest Who Will Be Offered The Chance To Do America’s Bidding For One Week And Win Up To $20,000 This is awesome, I hope we can get Libra and April nominated now!
July 29, 2008 - BIG BROTHER 10 will bring back the popular America’s Player segment that debuted in “Big Brother 8,” in which viewers will have the opportunity to vote to decide which current Houseguest will be given the chance to be the new America’s Player on Tuesday, July 29 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). The Houseguest with the most votes will be offered the chance to become America’s Player for one week. If they accept, they will do America’s bidding and will have the opportunity to win a total of $20,000. They will be asked to make moves that are both personal and strategic, from getting certain Houseguests nominated for eviction to convincing their fellow Houseguests to vote for who America wants out of the house. Most importantly, they can never tell anyone in the house that they are working on behalf of viewers and they need to be careful… because, just like their fellow Houseguests, they can be voted out at any time. Viewers will be able to vote on cbs.com or via text messaging from their mobile phone. |

Only for one week? Thank God. That twist was rubbish, and was especially rubbish in BB8 because it was that odious weasel Eric who was doing it!
I can't believe that twist was so popular that they're bringing it back!

You gotta give the guy credit. He did play that well. America has a brain! - (Not insulting myself - I was born in Blighty!)Steph |

Yeah, credit where it's due, even though I didn't like him, I think Eric got further than most people probably would have by having to be America's Player.
I still hate the AP twist though! ![]() And Eric might have gone further than he did without AP affecting how he had to play the game, who knows. At least this will only be for one week this time. |

I'm happy about it simply because all the likable housemates keep getting evicted, so I think we deserve a say!
Imagine controlling someone like Libra and making them nominate Keesha or vice versa...hahahaha!

When we found out what limited control we had the first time around, well...

The only good thing about AP last year was it caused weasel to be suspected by several HMS, including Evel Dick. This year...meh. At least it'll only be for a week. And you all know it's going to be Jerry

I really didn't like this twist when they did it the first time around. It really messes with the whole idea of the show. Some people then get aided because of popularity which isn't what the show is about.
Anyway, at least it is only for a week this time around. I don't see whoever is voted to do it rejecting it though. Who would give up the chance at $20k? |

AP has pros and cons. It's kindof fun from a viewer perspective because we have a little say in something that happens in the house. But it also messes with someone's game a lot. I would only vote AP for someone I hated, so that they would get stuck in the same positions Eric did.
I think Eric would've gotten further without AP simply because he never would've switched alliances and kept Dick in Week 6 without AP. And with that, he would've still been a part of a big alliance that would've probably taken out the rest of the house. In any case, I hope someone I hate gets AP this year, so I can make them my little puppet and get them in all kinds of trouble. |

I say they should have chosen somebody who could have had some influence.
Dan will have none, nobody will listen to him, an easy $20k if you ask me. |

AP really worked out this year. It single-handedly got Jessie evicted. Nice work!

Again...me = disagrees with America...I didn't mind Jessie by the end, far more interesting them Memphis who is like their version of Stuart BB9 UK!
Though it was definitely interesting to see the first 'shock' of the season, I was bored to tears with everyone blindly following to be honest, it now finally feels like this season started. |

Memphis is a very good player though and very funny on the feeds, he's usually one of the ones starting up the games, well he was when Angie and Steven etc were still around.
I would have preferred others to go before Jessie, but wanted Memphis to stay over him. Jessie is way too arrogant, if you haven't seen it already, you need to watch Friday's Housecalls with Jessie and Evel Dick, absolutely hilarious stuff.

This would probably be more suited for the Housecalls thread, but anyway - wasn't it odd that Jessie had a flood of negative calls when both Dick and spawn's first HC appearances were screened to a ridiculous extent? Dick being there on Friday made this all the more apparent.
Back on the subject of America's Player... give it a rest, Grodner. It's done now. |
