Bought a Nano but haven't used it yet. First MP3 player so haven't a clue what to do. Can anyone advise me on what's the cheapest way of buying tracks to put on it & is it legal (or even possible) to rip songs from CDs to put on it?

Thanks in advance

iTunes is your first port of call. Install it, then you can download tracks from tthe iTunes Store to play on your Nano.
You can rip CDs that you own and put them on the Nano, nothing illegal about that.

I'd only use the iTunes music store as a last resort. Even if the music you want is DRM free, the format they use (AAC) still locks you into music players that support that in the future.

I'd check out play.com and 7digital, as both have good mainstream mp3 download sections.
