Changing SIM cards, keeping number
Hi all.
My girlfriend has an 8 year old PAYG Orange SIM card and it's showing signs of wear and tear - basically the electrical contacts are eroding. Is it possible to 'upgrade' to a new (3G) Orange SIM card and still keep her old number? If so, how, exactly, do we do it? Orange have so far been less than helpful, the best response I've had being "Er..not sure, I'll check with my supervisor and get back to you." A week later and I'm still waiting! ![]() Any help much appreciated.

It's simple enough to do. Just get another SIM card (prob for nothing on-line) then phone Orange telling them what you want to do. They will ask for the numbers on the SIM cards, some securtity questions about when you last topped up, the method used and amount etc just to be sure of who you are, then at the press of a button the job's done, and you new SIM card has your original number mapped to it.

OR - - pop into your local Orange shop, buy a SIM there and get the shop staff to sort it for you.

Cheers. I'll give it a whirl at the weekend.

I needed to do this when I bought a new phone. All my previous phones have been 2G, but my new one is 3G, and I needed a 3G SIM Card to access the 3G services.
Orange did it for free at my local store (it didn't cost anything to get the new SIM card). I think they put it through as a PAYG upgrade. |
