Everything Tastes Sweet And Vinegary
It might just be me but everything tastes sweet or vinegary these days.
I've noticed alot of the sauces in the jars (pasta/curry sauces) taste like they've got malt vinegar in them. A really acidic, vinegary taste that brings tears to your eyes. I bought a jar of curry sauce the other day and opened it, took a wiff and had to throw it in the bin because it just stank of vinegar. I don't mind vinegar, when it's on chips but not in my curry. It's really annoying. And if its not vinegary then it's really sweet. Sweet bread, sweet ready salted crisps, sweet potatoes!! Yuk. I've been thinking that maybe they are adding vinegar to things as a cheap and natural preservative and because the government is getting tough on salt, companies are replacing the salt with sugar. Thats the only logical explanation I can come up with. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed this? |

No, sorry.
I don't eat crisps, don't eat bread, and I don't buy sauces in a jar. Potatoes.... haven't had them boiled for a while, but my last lot of home made wedges were fine. |

To be honest, I haven't really noticed it myself, but your explanation does sounds pretty spot on!
