Im guessing that the old phone wasnt a wap or photo messaging phone. you will need to ring orange to have gprs and mms enabled. they will send you two sim updates for you to read and delete then heypresto your phone should work with wap and mms.

Regards

Thanks. Have rang orange and they will activate this for me. They say it will take up to 24 hours because it is very busy right now.

Hi

I rang orange and got both services turned on, about 3 or 4 sim updates came through but I still find I get service unavailable when trying to send a photo message.

Are there any settings I need to alter? prehaps in the "MMS Profile" ?

Cheers.

Did you remember to read and delete the messages and then switch the phone off then back on, other than that I'm not really sure, I just knew about the sim update thing because I did the same i went from Nokia 3310 to a sagem my X6.

try ringing orange and tell them that the sim update did not seem to work, they may say that your account hasnt been updated yet if they are that busy (i thought it was done instantly) but there you go.

Also if you have an old SIMM card it might not work. The fun is trying to get Orange to replace it!

My old mobile just had text, no pics or even logo's/icons. My T610 handbook (pay as you go) says that older SIM cards will not work in the T610. However, I know some one who has done this (but his old phone was not as old as my old phone), and it did work. So, I think it depends on how old the "old" SIM card is. Very old stuff - not a chance, not so old stuff - maybe.

And, in one shop, when I was looking to get my T610, the sales bloke said that I would need a new SIM card if I bought that phone. Which backs up what the handbook says.

Ok then... next question....

what can you actually do in the infared connection of the phone. Ive used it to connect to my friends V200 but couldn't work out what I could use it for!

I'm not sure about the V200, but on Nokia phones you can surf the net very slowly, back up your phone records and do something with ringtones although I haven't tried the last one.

Off topic, do Virgin allow GPS and MMS?

Nope, not yet. Read in a copy of W@Mob or something like that (!) that GPRS and MMS are definately on their way though.
